Everytime I hear "Steady as She Goes," I think "Somebody's remade 'Is She Really Going Out with Him?'"

Everytime I hear Kid Rock's mashup of "Werewolves of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama" I think that rock is dead.

Cobain more or less openly copped to ripping off the Killing Joke, the Pixies, the Meat Puppets, the Buzzcocks and other, earlier idols, didn't he?

I didn't know he copped to the Killing Joke rip, but he's certainly copped to ripping off "More Than a Feeling."

Re: Everytime I hear... I think...

Is ripping off "More than a Feeling" a recurrent theme on CPF?

Re: Everytime I hear... I think...

You ever have olfactory memories? There are probably a dozen or so songs, most notably Beck's "Loser," that transport me instantly back to the basement of the Blake B Building on the Geneseo campus, right into the WGSU studios, circa 1994, in the middle of the night, smelling the asbestos and god knows what else that was in the boiler room across the hall from the main studio. I hear the songs, I smell the asbestos.

Everytime I hear anything from the Flaming Lips' "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots," I think of the theoretical best Christmas ever.

Everytime the judge heard "Down Under," he thought of the "The Kookaburra Song."

I totally don't hear "Kookaburra" in there. And we sing that song with my son almost daily. "Kookaburra" not "Down Under".

Maybe. I hear you. I guess either I'm not hearing the right part of the flute riff, or it's another "Kookaburra Song."

Re: Everytime I hear... I think...

When did WHN/WFAN start using Celebration/Layla Sad Piano end as the sound heading into the break as Murph was either saying we'll be back with the Happy Recap/Just Plain Recap?

I know they stopped sometime in the early 1990s and used a radio jingle thing that ends with an emphatic W-F-A-N that is still used to this day.

The part where he's sitting in the tree playing the flute. I perused the judgment of the court's decision -- the fact the he was sitting in a gum tree in the video (as per the lyrics of the Kookaburra song) during that interlude was suggestive that the similarities were not coincidental.

Everytime GEICO is mentioned, I think of a line from 30 Rock about how confusing it is that their spokesman is a gecko, a caveman, a googly-eyed stack of money AND the fake Rod Serling guy.
