Predict Jeff Francoeur's 2010 Numbers

Normally somebody runs a massive preseason Mets prediction quiz but I guess that didn't turn up this year.

While that would be interesting maybe the hardest thing to predict (or the easiest?) is the final line for Jeff Francoeur, who conceivably could be the Mets' best player this year or maybe lose his job to Fartinez in July.

Give me the slash numbers for Frenchy in 2010 and a prediction of his total HRs and RBIs, toot de suite.

For fun, here's his ZiPs prediction:

269/310/425 18 HR, 89 RBI

Winner gets a hot dog.

Re: Predict Jeff Francoeur's 2010 Numbers

The numbers you provide look pretty close, so I won't deviate much. While I predict his line will be pretty "blah", I will go out on a limb (without any facts to back myself up other than a hunch) that if the Mets play meaningful games in September this season, we will all be suprised by how many game winning rallies Frenchy was a part of...especially after looking at his final line.

Monsieur Clutch: 262/321/418 16 HR, 83 RBI

Re: Predict Jeff Francoeur's 2010 Numbers

280/330/460 15 HR, 75 RBI

He will lose playing time against righthanded pitching by the end of the year, but his BA/OBP/SLG will wind up looking better as a result.

I'm banking on him stealing Albert Pujols' talent, a la Space Jam.

I really have no idea though. I thought Francoeur sucked, and then he came in and did pretty well. While I don't want to believe a small sample size, I don't want to believe that a player can't learn and grow either. He'll get his RBIs though, hitting in this lineup.

Wouldn't be awesomer if he kicked ass?

I don't think that he will necessarily, but shit, I hope he does.

I'm gonna go all vanilla and say .260/.310/.455 17 HR, 83 RBI.

If he's a part-timer, it means Fartinez is likely up and kicking ass.

Or that Francoeur has been awful and there's no good replacement and they're holding open auditions.

I suspect Francoeur will have a satisfactory season. I'm not sharing in the hate.

.270 ba (.320 ob / .450 slg) 20hr / 90rbi

These are near his career averages. I don't see why, as he comes into his peak years at age 26, he'd necessarily regress, after showing some ability to hit in CitiField last year and hitting in an rbi slot this year.

It's not hate. Maybe lack of faith. I'd love to be wrong.

Actual numbers:
.237 / .293 / .369, 11 HR, 54 RBI, 76 K

Hot dog contenders:

Centerfield: .242 / .288 / .403 14 HR, 73 RBI
Number 6: .262 / .295 / .405, 13 HR, 57 RBI, part-time in July, grounded by August
Ashie: .225 / .313 / .434, 12 HR, 41 RBI, done by August
Elster: .220 / .298 / .377 10 HR, 33 RBI, 80 K, benched in July

Elster, with the exception of a mighty RBI hiccup, is scary-close. Adding K's was a nice touch.

This thread is depressing.

Well, that's as good a reason as any to stop drinking.
