Millionaires vs. Billionaires-- Who Ya Got?

The MLBPA alleges unFehr play, as new union head Michael Weiner states that he may file a collusion grievance charging owners with conspiring against free agents last winter.

"We have concerns about the operation of the post-2009 free agent market," Weiner said Tuesday in a telephone interview with the Associated Press. "We have been investigating that market. Our investigation is far along but not yet complete."

The sides reached a standstill agreement last year giving the union additional time to decide whether to proceed with a grievance against teams alleging misconduct after the 2008 season.

Management denies any violation of the collective bargaining agreement, which states clubs may not act in concert with respect to free agents.

I read this morning and can't say I understand where the players are coming from. I guess I need an example of their grievance before I start laughing hysterically at their inability to make more money.

I don't know that I'm on a side. either way we lose I figure.

It wouldn't surprise me though if the owners suggested to each other that maybe they don't want to give aging veterans multi-year multi-million dollar contracts.

I wouldn't be surprised if the billionaires used the moribund economy as a smokescreen to offer less to the millionaires

I have no sympathies to either side.

I'll go with the millionaires in this one, with an assist to Obama's new NLRB appointees.
