ok, but only if you are a hot girl. I tried it once , in Central Park of all places and promptly made a tool of myself and that was basically that.

Saw a guy zipping along on blades while smoking a cigar a couple years back and my immediate reaction was that it was like one of those tag lines that often get added to the titles of horror movies; this one was: '[u:3ux920ts]When Trends Collide[/u:3ux920ts]' I think he might also have been shirtless but I can't remember. Never actually bladed myself but it's a good exercise regimen for those who are so inclined. The only problem I have with bladers is that many tend to: a) frequently wear headphones and therefore have no clue as to what's going on around them b) even the ones who know what they're doing use up a lot more side-to-side room on bike/rec paths, and those who don't totally have no concept of "lanes" and the fact that that there might actually be other people using the path doesn't seem to even occur to them. Couple years back I'm biking down to Jones Beach along the bike path there and just as I'm about to pass this blader when she decides to do some dipsy-doodle move she copied from her last viewing of the ice-dance part of the winter Olympics as she's obviously acting out to the song in her headphones like some kind of less-hot chick from the 'Making Movies' video. All this takes her into the far lane and right in front of me and she of course didn't hear my "on your left" because of the music. The only reason we both didn't wind up in a heap is that I was able to stop about 4 inches in front of her but only because I'm doing maybe 12mph on account of fighting a fierce on-shore headwind. If the same scene had played out on the return trip when we both would have been riding a tail-wind and I would have been doing more like 25-30 we both would have been hospitalized and her attempted cutesy "oops, sorry" would have been fell far short of fixing both her broken bones and mine.

They're okay as long as one is not using them on the bikepath and wearing headphones and SKATING SIDE TO SIDE AND FREAKIN' BLOCKING THE PATH AND I'M BACK HERE ON MY BIKE TRYING TO PASS YOU YOU SELFISH PATH-HOGGING FUCKHEAD. Other than that, they're fine
