Champion MFY Honored @ CF (What, no pitching rubber?)

Cubs OF Xavier Nady received his 2009 World Series ring when New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman surprised him at Citi Field before the game. "It was pretty special," Nady said. I guess Mets management can't be blamed for any aspect of this MFY recognition, save for not kidnapping Cashman and sending Omar to the Bronx in his place. Nice gesture on MFY honcho's part, venue notwithstanding. I recall Gord Ash making a trip to Shea on behalf of the Blue Jays in early 1994 to present Doug Linton with his World Series ring. Linton pitched four games for the '93 Jays and was waived in June. The generosity compared particularly favorably at the time with Frank Cashen's miserliness toward almost every non-postseason Met from '86, when only Foster, Lynch and Berenyi got rings, while Myers, Magadan, Gibbons, et al could suck it for the next decade or however long it took to partially rectify the slights. Nady earned his ring for playing seven MFY games in 2009. His '06 Mets World Series ring got misplaced in a cab in Miami.

If I were X, I would have preferred it being awarded in front of the home folks at Wrigley and a big old..."see what you fuckers have missing out on for a century!"

The Mets probably would've just ended up accidentally DFAing Cashman, instead promoting Jenrry Mejia to GM on the manager's recommendation.

Well, it's not like the Cubs play the Yankees this year. I guess this makes the most sense, though would probably have been best to go unreported. Maybe slip in a rumor of Maine for Vasquez (They both had reduced velocity, both working on changing their mechanics, arm strength mentioned as a cause of the drop in velocity for both)

Nady was honered by an MFY at Citifeld. Nady should be on the 60-day within a week
