verizon wireless

We have three cell phones on our account but only use two of them. I'm sure this has been hashed out before, but does anybody know the specifics of breaking a verizon wireless account?

Or...finding out how long the account has on it?

Simple words, please :)

Re: verizon wireless

well I got on their website and it says "enter phone number" which I did, and it says it doesn't recognize it. On further reading it says you can find it blah blah blah, so apparently they mean serial number, why didn't they just say that.

Oh, I know, because they're verizon, and I'm not

Re: verizon wireless

Verizon wireless web service is failing me regularly.

The folks staffing their customer service crew in Bangalore are dears, don't get me wrong, but I know them so well because the service isn't working.

Re: verizon wireless

For a phone company, Verizon is very difficult to get on the phone.

I think I'll just stop at the verizon store tomorrow and ask them

eww. The stores are always crazy busy and confusing. But if you're better with dealing with people directly go for it. Make sure you go to an actual store and not like a Circuit City or retail type store, because they don't actually work for Verizon usually)

I've never had any problems with calling verizon on the phone. (I've done it way too much.)

If you haven't set up your account online, I'm not sure you can do that without calling them, but you could try. I think you have to set it up with the actual primary line.

Chances are you've signed a two-year contract with each phone. So if it's been two years since you upgraded that phone on that line, you're in the clear, otherwise you likely will have ot pay them $250 or so for early termination. (something that will be silly to do considering chances are you only pay $10 a month for the 3rd phone line)

Re: verizon wireless

Exactly! I know it's been 2 years since we've used it, but I don't know if it just renews itself or what. Those fees are ridiculous; I guess if you figure out how many months that $250 would pay for, most people just don't bother.

Our verizon store usually isn't too bad, if I stop in after work tomorrow I might get lucky.

I tried setting up an account online but you need your orignal password, blahblahblah. I personally think passwords are a pain in the ass, only thing worse is the "secret question!", but that's a rant for another day.

I've lost track of my verizon password so many times. (finally got a good one that I remember) and they don't let you change it to a password you've used previously, so it gets tricky.

if it's been two years you're golden. It'll be very very simple, besides them trying to convince you to upgrade plans, sell you a new phone, etc. If it's been 2 years, you should be on a month-to-month contract with the phone, which you can cancel. Provided they haven't tricked you into a renewal on the whole plan or tried to upsell you minutes or some sort of thing in the past two years on the entire account. (Something they do indeed do.)

Re: verizon wireless

Since Verizon saved me from Comcast, I view them as liberators....

(Good luck cooby!)

Re: verizon wireless

Off Topic, but AT&T is still leasing, yes leasing, over 3 million landline handsets primarily in the southeast.
