Pittsburgh trying to get the monkey off their backs, leading 7-3 over Milwaukee after a five-run ninth. Cards lead the Braves 5-4 in the top of the ninth. Giants leading the Phils 2-1 in the third. in a game that might have first place implications.

Stephen Strasburg gave up zero hits in five innings of work today, striking out six. I think he'll be in the big leagues before the All-Star break.

Several more gay dames today, including a few with NLEast-ious implications. - In Florida, Nate Robertson was handed a 4-0 lead and gave it all back and more -- Now 5-4 Padres in the 5th - Nationals & Cubs starting a bit later to close out what's been two closely played games so far (4-3 Cubs in 10 innings, then 3-1 Nats) - Phils try to avoid a sweep in SF at 3:45 EDT but have to do so against Lincecum. Hamels goes for Philly. Also: - Pirates @ Brewers - after the Pirates broke [u:2ejv0jw9]a 22-game losing streak[/u:2ejv0jw9] in Milwaukee last night - and Rockies @ Arizona w/Kris Benson going for the Snakes

- Nats hang tough and beat the Cubs again 3-2. Far too early to call them a legit contender but definitely a better team than in recent years. - Pirates, down by a run, tie the Brewers in the 9th (Doumit HR) then go ahead in the 10th (McCutcheon HR) but then the Beermakers tie it in bottom 10 off Dotel Tied headed for the 12th - Phils draw 1st blood off Lincecum via a Ryan Howard solo shot. 1-0 in the 5th

Howard HR notwithstanding, the reigning Cy Young winner is cruising, too, with 2 H and 0 BB allowed to go with 9 K. Pirates and Biermachers still knotted after 13 after Lastings Milledge throws out Jim Edmonds at the plate as he tries to score from second on a single.

Phils got 2 in the top of the 11th but the Giants are rallying against Nelson in the bottom of the inning now. 2nd and 3rd with 1 out (that's the winning run on 2nd).
