Gift To Season Ticket and Plan Holders

Remember how the Mets rationalized not giving Season Ticket and Plan Holders hard copy media guides because of their "Going Green" initiative?

Apparently Going Green doesn't apply to the gift that they belatedly decided to send to these same fans, since the "Levitating Ball" needs to be plugged in.

Looks like a logo one might see on John McGraw's jacket.

Check out Metspolice's write up of the instructions. Obviously written in China or something.

Meh. Halfway in one direction, then slowly back. Like it's meandering without much direction.

I would rather just have a freakin Media Guide.

they're sending me a digital version of one on a flash drive. I know this isn't as much paper as printing it (although the green thing is a MLB wide suggestion, so they get brownie points for not sending them, but no one cares if they send flash drives) but still it's paper and envelopes and stamps to mail it to me.

Same here. At least I have use for a Media Guide.

How did you get them to send it to you on a Flash Drive? Does it require having to blow someone?

Which still isn't as good as a paper copy, but it's at least better than the non-downloadable link they gave me.

This is gonna sound odd..but they simply emailed me and asked if I wanted one.

I really only flipped through the '07 and '08 ones I have once or twice, so it's not a huge deal to me either way. I'm less likely to read things on the computer, but it could be interesting to have.

I called the Ticket Office. The guy up there told me they were out of the flash drives and could not send me a Media Guide due to the "Going Green" initiative. He then transferred me down to Ticket Services.

The guy at Ticket Services was unfamiliar with any flash drives. He put me on hold so he could talk to the Ticket Office.

After being on hold for a while, Ticket Services took my account number, and then transferred me back to the Ticket Office. Who said he couldn't help me, and would transfer me back to Ticket Services. I mentioned that I had just been transferred to him by Ticket Services, and he put me on hold to talk to them. After he talked to them, he basically said that only people in the media were offered a flash drive (are you in the media Ceetar?) and that he couldn't help me.

But after that, for some reason, I went back to the original link that the Mets sent me. Without telling people they have done this, they changed the access so now the Media Guide can be downloaded.

So in the end, I have the Media Guide downloaded onto my PC. With no help from the people who are supposed to be in charge of helping the fans figure out these things, of course.

Very Metsian....

I liked the #7 subway train cookie-tin thingie they gave out about 10 years ago. Still have it. Still use it.

Re: Gift To Season Ticket and Plan Holders

The wooden cigar type Shea box they sent out was nice too.
I like the subway car too. I also use the Shea tin for change at
the office. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with that lamp if and
when I get one ... I suppose one of my friends kids might like it.

I echo the sentiment that I'd rather just get a media guide since I
collect that crap.

It's not a lamp - there's no way you can read by that dim light.

D-Dad is going to take it to his office. He likes things like that for his desk.

Just opened ours...and it was broken.

I love the box from the '08 season but haven't found a use for it yet. The mousepad from '06 was nice and I still use that every day at work.

No they don't. Plenty of other teams sent out guides -- or, to at least make sure that extra guides weren't wasted, sent coupons that could be exchanged for a guide, if the plan holder wanted one.

I assure you that "going green" in this regard also "saved green."

I still desperately want one of the apple clocks they gave out a few years back. (Or even one of the apple banks they gave out this year. I guess I just want an apple.)

Wow, you really wanted a media guide! Me, no I'm not media, just a lowly blogger.

Bloggers are not lowly. I confess that I forgot about that.

And yes, I really did want one. Partly on principle, partly because I use them, and partly because I'm unhappy that the status quo has been changed.

I should note that you *can* get a hard-copy Media Guide but it'll run you $20. I ordered one that way as an experiment, to see if it showed up faster than the "online access."

No - it attaches to the magnet on top.

I have a similar one in my office, but it's a globe. Students are always touching it, and I have to reset it-- which requires a certain delicate touch that I lack.

BTW, be careful what you put near that thing. D-Dad brought it to the office in his briefcase, and it erased his flash drive!

Luckily he had his work backed up somewhere else, or that would have been a disaster.

Yeah. Magnets near storage devices = bad.
