Generally good at-bats, doesn't tend to swing at crap outside the zone, doesn't tend to miss strikes, fouls off a lot of pitches... Sanchez is a bit of a pain with the bat, no?

If you're picking a temp for your #3 hitter, you could do worse than Pagan, really. He's hitting the ball with authority nearly every time up, being a lot more selective than I remembered, and is one of the few Mets hitting better with RISP/men on.

Whether there's a bat or a ball in his hand, French seems to play baseball like a "playmaker" safety or middle linebacker-- flying all over the place, trying to make something happen... even when there's nothing there.

There's actually a lot of good to take from this game. Jerry switched up the lineup. Though nobody believes that Angel is the answer at number three, Jose Reyes responded with a good game (no popouts, with one kind of lazy fly). David Wright made wind only once (could have picked a better time of course). The Sucker of the Game was clearly Jeff Francoeur --- four ineffective at-bats, two whiffs, three stranded and an outfield error. The hit by Carter (Jerry should have saved him for an RBI situation but it worked out and who can comprehend the mind of Jerry) may help punch his ticket for a start tomorrow and a squat for the Frenchman. OK, there's a little good to take from this game, but getting Reyes and WRight straight is no small priority.
