I don't think I've ever started one of these. Just thinking about starting one makes me nervous.

And Niese is down with a hammie..Almost a replay of last year but without the collapse on the mound. This looks like a long stay on the DL Hell, maybe Ollie just got his job back

Re: IGT 05/16, Mets at Fishsticks

So let's review here: We're down three-zip here largely because we've lined into two different DPs after getting the lead-off runners on, while they've got three runners in & two on w/no outs all despite getting only one ball out of the infield, bunting poorly twice and missing a base. Oh yeah, and we're down two starters in the last three days. Murphy may be down in rehab all season but he left his law here.

Re: IGT 05/16, Mets at Fishsticks

I kinda want Ollie starting next Friday against the Yankees. He's pitched better against the Yankees than literally almost every other major league team: 5-1, 2.61 in six starts.

Really kind of the team to try working all their suck out over the weekend before I trek out to the Ted to see them Monday night.
Any word on Niese for those of us not near a TV?[/quote:2wkfrqsy] He tweaked something in his leg fielding a bunt. He threw 1 pitch after that and immediately motioned for the coaches & trainers to come out and then gingerly walked off the field. Looked like he was grabbing the high hammy under his right ass cheek, IIRC.

Re: IGT 05/16, Mets at Fishsticks

Hey, at least we followed that disaster up by going down 1-2-3 on 8 pitches. But on the bright side, Wright won't have anyone on base when he strikes out to lead off next inning.

Frenchy pops up for Carter in an entirely unnecessary lefty-righty move, and ends yet another rally. One run game now boys, time to pull up yer sox.

Say! Carter's doing all right, isn't he? Why, yes! Bay might have struck out, but this Animal's got a good shot of doing something he-- Oh, a they're bringing in a lefty, you say? GIVE ME THE ICE-COLD RIGHTY! And fucking fantastic-- SARGE stays in right.

Re: IGT 05/16, Mets at Fishsticks

Well it's official, it's all MY fault. I got disgusted when it was 6-0 a while back and left. Came back after about an hour - figuring the game was probably already over - only to discover it was 7-6. Seconds later came the 3R HR. I should be put on an ice floe and shoved out to sea ... at least for a week or so.

Joined in late today. Is there a reason the crowd's booing, or is that just what this stadium sounds like, ambient-noise-wise, when it's empty during a gay dame?
And fucking fantastic-- SARGE stays in right.[/quote:59mmk1ke] And he delivers a broken-bat squib that crawls through the infield like a garter snake that just swallowed a volleyball. No matter, back to a three-run deficit with two aboard.

Re: IGT 05/16, Mets at Fishsticks

On the positive side, Jason Kubel just Grand-Slammed Mariano's ass to cap off a 5-run Twinkies 8th. Now 6-3 Minnesota as they look for their first win at Yanqui Stadium since, I believe, early in Nixon's first term.

Frankie in to get some work. (And, 'cause, whenever you can nudge your "closer" closer to his automatic vesting option in a meaningless game, you have to take that shot, y'know?) His barber should do the same. People complaining about the RyeBeard-- THIS is what a terrible beard looks like.

Re: IGT 05/16, Mets at Fishsticks

Really trivial trivia: I noticed that the winning pitcher, the losing pitcher, and the pitcher who got the save in this game all had last naems starting with the same letter. This is only the 13th time in Mets history that this has happened! And the first time that the letter in question was the letter N. +------------+----+--------------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | 1972-08-02 | L | Phillies | Scarce-Seaver-Selma | | 1972-10-04 | W | Expos | Matlack-Moore-McGraw | | 1973-07-03 | L | Expos | McAnally-McAndrew-Marshall | | 1980-08-31 | L | Giants | Montefusco-Miller-Minton | | 1983-09-24 | W | Cubs | Seaver-Schulze-Sisk | | 1985-06-02 | W | Padres | Schiraldi-Show-Sisk | | 1989-09-06 | L | Cardinals | DiPino-Darling-Dayley | | 1994-04-18 | L | Padres | Harris-Hurst-Hoffman | | 1995-06-09 | L | Padres | Hamilton-Harnisch-Hoffman | | 2000-06-20 | L | Phillies | Brock-Benitez-Brantley | | 2002-07-05 | W | Marlins | Bacsik-Burnett-Benitez | | 2008-04-06 | L | Braves | Smoltz-Santana-Soriano | | 2010-05-16 | L | Marlins | Nolasco-Niese-Núñez | +------------+----+--------------+-------------------------------------------------------+
