KTE - NY Yankees @ NY Mets

Both NY teams stagger in to Citi Field tonight. Since beating Boston 10-3 two Friday's ago the MFY's have won five and lost eight . Does that surprise you?, the NY media doesn't cover Yankee losses .

I like our chances this weekend. The MFYs are looking a little less than terrific lately, won't have the DH, and the Return of Gangsta Jerry has lit my fire.

Re: KTE - NY Yankees @ NY Mets

Obviously this doesn't really mean anything, but Yanks are 5 out of first place, Mets are 6.

The series' are always better when both teams are playing decently, but in this case, both playing badly works.

Re: KTE - NY Yankees @ NY Mets

The Yanx are actually having a weird kind of season so far in that in a lot of ways they're getting better contributions from no-name irregulars than they are from their high-priced starters.

C - Posada was hitting but playing only occasionally with a foot which now turns out to be broken and has landed him on the DL, Meanwhile, Francisco Cervelli is hitting .357/.432/.471.
1B - Teixeira started horribly and is only somewhat better lately (.214 BA). 1B/DH Nick Johnson is ... wait for it ... on the DL and needs wrist surgery
2B - Cano was great in April but has cooled
SS - Jeter has a .319 OBA
3B - ARod has just 6 HRs and most of those in the last week or two.
OF - Granderson in on the DL and Swisher has been merely OK, but Brett Gardner and Marcus Freakin' Thames have much better

What's been good is their pitching, Sabathia and Burnett as expected (except their last starts) but Phil Hughes in particular.

And you think our bench is patchwork, try Ramiro Pena (IF), Randy Winn (OF), Juan Miranda (DH/OF) and I don't even know who the new backup catcher is.

Re: KTE - NY Yankees @ NY Mets

The backup catcher is Chad Moeller (all glove, no hit); he's been around forever. This is a rare weekend series with all night games, plus an off-day Monday, so they may just start Cervelli all 3 games.

Good article, I saw it pop up yesterday. Jeter and A-Rod 0-4 'professionally' against Takahashi.

That is possibly the most ugly, embarrassing outfit ever. How can someone be seen in public in that get-up and not feel shame and scorn? It's like a billboard advertising "I am stupid and need Mommy to lay out my clothes in the morning."

Oh, and Steinbrenner in the plaid slacks looks bad, too. But he looks great standing next to Martin in that....costume.

Re: KTE - NY Yankees @ NY Mets

The world has gone mad. I just went over to gather some bulletin-board fan material and found this:

Important Announcement from NYYFans.com

By Jim Frasch
NYYFans.com Staff Writer
May 21, 2010
Dear NYYFans Community:

When I started NYYFans.com as Bronx-Bombers.com in 2000 I never thought it would evolve into the dynamic community that it is today. At the heart of that community is a core of users that have been around since the very beginning. With that core we’ve added over 22,000 users, and together we’ve cheered, celebrated, commiserated, and sometimes even booed. We experienced 9-11 together, we chipped-in to pay Don Zimmer’s fine together, we’ve gone to games together, and we rallied against MLB together when they came after the site’s name in 2003.

While there are many other places to talk about the Yankees these days, few have the passion and insight for baseball and the Yankees that NYYFans has, and without question none have the real community bond that makes NYYFans such a special place.

It’s because of that core community that, when faced with mounting server costs, instead of shutting down the site altogether, I have opted to transfer ownership of the site to a partner who has the financial resources to maintain it properly, and will ensure that the community can continue to evolve for many years to come.

Today I am thrilled to announce that effective immediately NYYFans.com is owned and operated by SportsNet New York, better known as SNY. As you may (or may not) know, SNY is New York’s only 24/7 sports network and does a very good job providing unfiltered, unbiased coverage of New York sports and the Yankees. On the digital side, they have had strong partnerships with Yankee blogs you may be familiar with – Bronx Banter and WasWatching.com – and Yankees columnists Sam Borden and Dan Graziano. I know our community will fit nicely within this mix.

So what’s going to change here? Very little! That is why SNY was such a good fit for NYYFans.com. While there may be some SNY branding, for the most part everything else will stay the same. The freedom to express your opinions and talk about whatever you’d like will remain just as it is now. You will not be bombarded with annoying marketing messages. And we will continue to discuss our passion for the Yankees as we have for the past ten years! I will even remain as the forum administrator for at least the next year.

Thank you for being a part of this awesome site, and let’s go Yankees!

Regards,
Jim Frasch
Founder, NYYFans.com
