What's with all the yellow NY License plates on cars now?

Re: Yellow Plates

Wow, that color scheme reminds me of the NY plates from the 70's.

Blue and orange are the colors of New York City (and the Mets), and were the colors of all New York State lincense plates until about 1988.

I think they look ugly. But I have Jersey plates on my car, so who am I to talk?

Makes perfect sense. They remind me of the British plates I would see a lot growing up,a darker yellow though maybe.

Saw them on a vehicle for the first time this week. That is, the first time since my dad had them on his cars when I was a kid.

Haven't decided yet if I like 'em or hate 'em. Do you have to go
get them or are they sending forms in the mail or something. I
have a brand new car and the plates look like crap on it because
they they've been through a lot.

Re: Yellow Plates

I thought they were gonna weed them out at each new registration but mine just passed and I got to keep my beaten-up plates.

Forcing peeps to get a new one every year must've kept the prisoners busy.

Re: Yellow Plates

Well, back in 1922 or whenever, when they probably only had to make like fifteen total plates a year, it probably wasn't such a big deal.

My assumption was that they were swapping them out at renewal time as well, but I guess JCL's experience seems to refute that. Or it just means the people at his DMV are either lazy or furloughed.
