Maybe no show this side of Blossom knew as many "very special episodes as "Diff'rent Strokes." You tune in for a night of riotously good times, with a small moral at the end, and what you get is toned-down yucks, maybe with the laugh track turned off (or muted), a character coming within an inch of his or her personal destruction, and a HUGE moral at the end, often explictly stated by one of the show's players.

Now, in tribute to Gary Coleman, we ask you to reflect on that specialness.

Any episode featuring the Maytag repair man in the shower with a little black boy is definitely very special.

"Skin Deep or True Blue"? Is that the one where Kimberly turns Africanizes her skin?

I watched the show all the time. I have absolutely no recollection
of any of the actual episodes.

I'm with KC in that I remember watching the show quite a bit growing up, but I don't remember specifics of particular episodes.

Re: A Very Special "Diff'rent Strokes"

From Edgy's list I remember #4 & #5. I also remember the one where Kimberley's hair turns green (message: acid rain is bad) and the one where Too Tall Jones rescues Arnold from the ledge of the building (message: don't climb out on ledges because an NFL superstar won't come to rescue your crazy ass).

I think I liked the funny ones better than than the "very special" ones.

Hard to believe they'd let a creep like that run a Cincy radio station.

You left out the "Willis smokes weed and gets sleepy" episode, another classic.
