Maybe no show this side of Blossom knew as many "very special episodes as "Diff'rent Strokes." You tune in for a night of riotously good times, with a small moral at the end, and what you get is toned-down yucks, maybe with the laugh track turned off (or muted), a character coming within an inch of his or her personal destruction, and a HUGE moral at the end, often explictly stated by one of the show's players.

Any episode featuring the Maytag repair man in the shower with a little black boy is definitely very special.

I'm with KC in that I remember watching the show quite a bit growing up, but I don't remember specifics of particular episodes.

From Edgy's list I remember #4 & #5. I also remember the one where Kimberley's hair turns green (message: acid rain is bad) and the one where Too Tall Jones rescues Arnold from the ledge of the building (message: don't climb out on ledges because an NFL superstar won't come to rescue your crazy ass).
