Bleh. Not an award I care about, really; I didn't even bother to vote. Roids or not, Giambi did make a helluva comeback. And I don't see how you can argue with Griffey. I guess they're both fine by me.

Always fun when a guy makes a great comeback while consistantly refusing to tell us what he's coming back from.

Many people have argued that Bob Wickman, untainted by roids, deserved it in the AL.

All these awards are bullshit, who in 8 to 10 years will remember the MVP's let alone the "comeback" players.

Griffey had a good year, granted, but Floyd was ripped off.
Their numbers were very similar aside from the .273/.301 average.
Floyd had 60 more at bats then Griff.
Floyd played in 150 games. Griffey only 128.
And who came thru more for their team?
Who came up bigger?
Floyd.

Giambi? No comment.

(PS: I really have no idea how Griffs performance factored into Red wins, but still,....Floyd!)

MVPs, ROYs and CYs are remembered. The Comeback player "awards" are more trivial novelties because they depend on a downturn just to make it possible.
It's a bit like the notion that Ali was the greatest boxer ever because of his winning the heavyweight title 3 times. No, that merely means he was defeated twice en route (even though you can argue that one wasn't his "fault").

Likewise, the Floyd vs Griffey choice reflects not this year's accomplishments so much it does this year as an improvement over last.

Great comments about the Comback Player Of The Year from sports talk radio.

A few hosts were all "Well I guess we are supposed to CARE about this now?"

And a few hosts seemed to be under the impression that it was for the entire MLB and arguing Giambi VS Griffey

You know I should set up an A-P So You Want To Be A Sports Talk Radio Host thread as a companion to the Sports Writer thread we have
