I'm not a Mets fan and I HATE the Braves

When I was growing up, I wasn't a baseball fan. My dad watched baseball, but I generally didn't pay much attention. Except that I learned the Yankees were worse than bad. Y'see, my dad was a Dodgers fan. We lived in a small town with no TV stations except 2 repeaters for stations in a larger city. When we finally got cable, it gave us a total of 16 channels. One of those channels was WTBS. And they seemed to have the Braves on nearly every day during the summer. And when they weren't actually on, there were commercials and they referred to the Braves as "America's Team". This just annoyed me and my sisters to the point that we couldn't stand the Braves. Now I discover that my team has a post-season history that prominently features the Braves. I still hate them.

Love the title of the thread, did they have terrible TV commentaters back then like they do now, Chip and Skip are the worst.

Thinking back, I found the whole Superstation and America's Team kinda annoying too. It's really sorta funny now, it was a weird phenomenon almost to have three and then four games (with WGN Harry) at our finger tips in addition to the Mets and Yanks here in NY. Now we have so many choices and ways to watch baseball the notion of Superstations just sounds so quaint nowadays.

Okay, I was just joking about jerseyshore. It's an old joke among the old timers. I believe he's a martial arts black belt so it probably isn't a good idea to call him a girl.

I remember growing up, watching sitcom reruns on TBS, and then at least once a show, during a commercial break, there would be some random old Braves player hawking the Braves yearbook or sweatshirt or something. It confused the hell out of me when I was 10 years old.

I don't know if they are still promoting it as such, but couple of years ago the programing department at TBS came up with the idea of no longer calling it "Braves Baseball" but "Major League Baseball" with no mention of the Braves at all in promotion material (except of course when to say who's playing) That was simply hilarious, especially considering A) Who PAYS the broadcaster's saleries and B) WHO the announcers are Steve

Oh, and let me echo the sentiments that I like SwitchHitter. Shame on you, PiazzaFan. Anybody who can post intelligently should be welcome here. This, of course, rules out the majority of Yankee fans. Mikey would be ashamed of your comment.
