Bobby V. I was working construction at the then soon to be USA Tennis Center in Flushing , living in Woodside and taking the 7 back and forth, got curious about the big and beautiful blue stadium across the way and the rest as they say is history....torturous but history all the same.

Gil was in charge when I saw my first game in 1971, but Yogi was at the helm when I became fully obsessive.

Technically it was George Bamberger, but I was too young to notice anything about the manager except he had the same name as the store where my mom would shop.

It really was, and that's when I became a Mets fan, but I have no recollection of any managerial change, and don't have any specific memories of Frank as the manager.

Joe Torre.....1978 First Mets game memory from that year was watching Dave Parker trying to bowl over Jogn Stearns and breaking his jaw in the process. I used to watch all the games on channel 9 and was hooked!

I was a token Mets fan as far back as I can remember. Torre was manager when I can first remember being aware of the Mets. I started really following baseball in 1985 under Davey Johnson.

i have vague memories of the Mets in 70-71, but my most vivid early memory is seeing Matlack during his RoY season in 72, with Yogi Bear (as i called him) managing. I remember a game where Matlack took a line drive right off the coconut, and he went down on the mound as if shot, with the concussion reverberating thru the stadium with a sickening "thunk". I may be conflating that game with an earlier one.
