The American League Challenge

Nine straight coming up in junior circuit parks. I guess it's a small shame that Beltran can't be ready in time to DH some of those contests. I better see an assload of Chris Carter, though.

Benjamin Grimm Jun 07 2010 08:52 AM Re: The American League Challenge |
I was thinking about who might DH, and Carter does seem to be the best choice. Although it would be okay if Barajas got the nod once or twice.
|
Edgy DC Jun 07 2010 08:53 AM Re: The American League Challenge |
Yeah, then Tatis gets it once or twice, and maybe we have to work Feliciano in there to get the guy a start while he's up and you know what? I just want to see and assload of Carter.
|
Benjamin Grimm Jun 07 2010 08:57 AM Re: The American League Challenge |
That's what I want too. Seven or eight Carters and one or two Barajases.

metirish Jun 07 2010 09:18 AM Re: The American League Challenge |
If Carter doesn't get a lot of playing time here , or batting time I suppose then I don't know what's in store for him.

I hat the interleague road games and the feckin DH.

glad they're coming to baltimore, so I can walk to the park! =)

Same here. But hey-- we're actually carrying a DH this time around. A car in every garage, an iPhone for every spoiled teen, an assload of ABs for every Animal!

Carter seems at least as equipped to DH as anyone else in the Mets system... though I wouldn't object to some Blanco/Barajas C/DH action either. Warning: If I see Alex Cora in a DH slot, I can't promise I won't throw up in my mouth, swallow it down, and then poop out the vomit and somehow suck that back in as well. Be forewarned.

metirish Jun 07 2010 12:30 PM Re: The American League Challenge |
I expect to see Carter doing push ups and pumping iron between at-bats to keep his high energy up....maybe have him running up and down the so called great hall they have at the dump.

Every time I see him warming up on-deck to PH, I get simultaneously a little excited and a little terrified for the batboy. STAY AWAY, BIG-HEADED JIM-- HE DOESN'T KNOW HIS OWN STRENGTH!
|
HahnSolo Jun 07 2010 02:26 PM Re: The American League Challenge |
I predict Carter will DH less than 50% of the AL games. Sprinkle in a Barajas here, a Wright there, and a couple of Tatis-against-a-lefty games (particularly if they see CC and Pettitte)

attgig Jun 07 2010 02:36 PM Re: The American League Challenge |
what kind of playing time are we going to see for feliciano? especially with Frenchy on his little tear, I don't see Jerry sitting him for feliciano at all. same with pagan. maybe as late inning defensive replacement for frenchy or bay, but not much playing time....
|
Frayed Knot Jun 07 2010 02:44 PM Re: The American League Challenge |
I think he's mostly a bat off the bench at this point -- the type you use early in an inning to get on base (he's not a power guy at all) -- and the emergency CF until Beltran gets back.
|
Valadius Jun 07 2010 03:42 PM Re: The American League Challenge |
Knowing Jerry, we're going to see David Wright as DH a couple of times.
|
metirish Jun 07 2010 04:24 PM Re: The American League Challenge |

That would be good right? channeling best Ed Coleman voice it would let Jerry give David a blow without losing the bat

I've heard some rumblings about Barajas tiring late last year, and I think he's already playing more than the average catcher (guess I could look it up) so I'd rather 2-3 Rods, 5 Carters and maybe a Wright.

Being that you have this hard-on for Carter, would just seeing his ass suffice? (I know I could have also worked the word "load" into this joke but hello, I must be going.)

That would make a great lineup. Lose a lot of 22-14 games.

So far, a little imbalanced line, entirely carried by Carter, but so good.

I believe the proper plural for Barajas is Barajii.

So far this year the AL leads NL 92-76 (792 runs to 733).

Mets: 9 and 3 against the AL.

Um, the Mets went 3-3 against the MFYs this year. They're bragging about a tie?

Say what you want about the Orioles and the Twins being weak-assed teams, the Mets ran over them and then took five of nine from much more formidable Yankees, Twins, and Tigers. That's no small thing.

I've got Ban Johnson's signature on the bottom of my shoe -- and I'm coming back for more in October.

Not. For. The Mets.

You can take this statistic, annually, and put it in a Fgirl-soiled-diaper. That's what it's worth to me. Mets romped. Are we really shocked that the Pirates and Cubs got kicked around?
