Jon Heyman, also a moron

OK, that might be a little harsh. But he tweeted this today:

pelfrey's new pitch and ike davis (even if hes 4th or 5th best rookie) make #mets legit contender, at least for wild card

Would it kill him to say something positive about the Mets without the backhand slaps? Pelfrey's done more than add a pitch. And it doesn't matter if Davis is the 12th best rookie, he's contributing.

Heyward is better than Ike. I guess you have to say Strasburg as well, but the guy has had one start. Who else is there? The guy on St. Louis is pretty good, but I don't think he has Ike's power.

Re: Jon Heyman, also a moron

Only eight NLers have had enough PAs/IPs to qualify.

Pitchers:
Jaime Garcia, STL -- 5-2, 1.47 through 11 starts
Mike Leake, CIN -- 5-0, 2.22 through 11 starts

Batters:
Jason Heyward, ATL -- .271/.397/.510, 10 HR, 40 RBI
Ike Davis, NYM -- .259/.355/.462, 7 HR, 19 RBI
Josh Freese, STL -- .313/.381/.443, 4 HR, 32 RBI

The other three -- Ian Desmond, Gaby Sanchez, Alcides Escobar -- have been good, but not better than any of those five.

Heyman didn't do that much research, but he might be right on that specific nugget.

Sure, but that's a snapshot. Some guys got a head start on others and they all got a head start on Strasburg (and Stanton, for that matter).

I'd love to see Ike Davis win the Rookie of the Year award, but it's a tough field and the odds are against him. I'm content, though, to have a rookie player who's performing well and establishing himself.

Looks like Ike is on the bottom of this list.
Both pitchers are having fine seasons at this point.
Its Heywards RBI that pop out. Wow.
Didn't know he had that many already.

Your gonna have to step it up Ike.
