Good for you, enjoy. It looks like a special place to watch a game. It sounds like there are thousands upon thousands of Mets fans there tonight.

I will keep an eye out. I know frayed knot will be there and saw Rock N Dock in the hotel lobby, he will also be there. Charm City is flithy with Met fans right now.

Rockin' Doc Jun 12 2010 09:46 PM Re: Camden Yards |
This is my first trip to Camden Yard so I don't know the layout too well. Does anyone have a suggestion for a possible pregame rendezvous point at the ballpark tomorrow? It would be nice to see everyone and while enjoying a beverage together.

The area just outside the Eutaw Street (pronounced: Utah) entrance is an open plaza where there's room to mill around and/or meet folks prior to going into the stadium. It's at the corner of Eutaw & Camden which is behind the OF side of the stadium and right about where the Camden Station light-rail stop is. There's a couple of mini-landmarks out on the plaza including a small statue of somebody (I forget who) and also stone markers - maybe 3 - 4 ft high - representing retired Orioles numbers.

For some reason, my mind isn't working this morning and I can't figure out how to send a private message. So what the hell. I'll be at the game, and I'm 914-388-0183 if anyone wants to try and track me down.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 13 2010 08:34 AM Re: Camden Yards |
I told Lunchbucket I'd meet him in that plaza outside the Eutaw St gate in the 12:00-12:30 range
|
Rockin' Doc Jun 13 2010 09:11 AM Re: Camden Yards |
Mrs. Doc and I will try to be at the Plaza around 12:00-12:15. I'm not 6' ish or thin, more like 5'6" and stocky with blond hair. I'll be wearing a khaki and black Izod golf shirt with black shorts. Black with blue billed Mets hat and likely sunglasses.

Hmmmm. Anyone remember if there was a big to do about the Orioles doing that for a guy that never played for the St Louis/Browns/Baltimore Orioles franchise? (Minor league O's do not count) the way it was, and still is in some corners, with the Robinson Rotunda here? Even if someone wants to make the case that the Robinson thing is much more extensive and in-your-face than anything the O's and Baltimore (and that includes the birthplace museum not too far from the ballpark) have done with their celebration of Ruth, the fact is that there is a precedent of a team honoring someone who never played a game for them, and in this case died before the franchise was re-located there.

Frayed Knot Jun 13 2010 05:43 PM Re: Camden Yards |
The heat at Camden reminded me that, in addition to the story I told in the IGT about being in Camden Yards during Lady Di Di-ing weekend, I was also there during the great OJ chase week. I remembered cuz it was hot as hell that day too - probably hotter than today's 93 or so.

Yeah, there was rioting in the streets, wanton destruction of public property, and threats of boycotts.

So basically the venom against certain honoring of peeps that were never associated with your franchise is regulated to yahoos on talk shows and internet forums.

Stilll two hours left in the day for a press orgy of some sort to break out. Hey, look, it's Gary Condit.

Just for the record I probably walked by you all a half dozen times. (I was wearing a last season at shea pinstriped Wright jersey and the new BP cap) Didn't have internet in Baltimore so wasn't reading forums or anything anyway. Got some fun pictures, enjoyed the game, etc etc. As far as the actual park goes, it was definitely nice, but I wouldn't put it above ATT/PNC/Citi/Petco

themetfairy Jun 13 2010 09:10 PM Re: Camden Yards |

I agree. PNC is my favorite park, with ATT as my second. I'd rank Citi higher, but for the sightline issues.

Saturday at Camden looks a lot more crowded than Sunday was.
|
Ceetar Jun 14 2010 07:57 AM Re: Camden Yards |

I ended up scrapping Saturday for Sunday. (due to a random coworker of the fiance also going down there and going to Sunday's game) My observations walking around Baltimore (and to be fair, obviously going to be a lot more Mets fans in the touristy harbor areas anyway) where that it might as well been NY because it was predominately Mets fans. People would ask me how they did on the street or in the hotel lobby. You could take the soundtrack from this game and put it up against a home start and it wouldn't feel out of place. there was an infuriating number of Phillies fans. (a couple of Sox and Yanks fans too) You'd think the Camden Yards people would've done their research and realized playing the "Ole Ole Ole" song when there are so many Mets fans in the park was a mistake. You'd also want to consider making the Chant "Let's go Orioles" instead of "Let's Go O's" which was always shouted down with "Let's go Mets" so much that the scoreboard might as well have been prompting us to cheer. There was a mixture of "new" Mets shirst and old. I saw plenty of Davis and I Like Ike, but also older ones like the free Pedro giveaway shirt from 2007, Alomar (really?) and even saw a Phillips. (guess it's possible that was his own last name?) I saw an inordinate number of Orange Mets shirts, which i'm not sure was meant to be sneaky "hehehe, it's Orioles colors, fooled you!" or a result of some Baltimore sale of Met sshirts (did see a blue Reyes at a stand outside the st adium) btw, why does this forum input box absolutely suck in IE? i can't see what I'm typing behind a certain point anymore. in the end, i just feel bad for Orioles fans. quote from O's talk radio "I know we get on here and talk about losing a lot"...
|
Edgy DC Jun 14 2010 08:20 AM Re: Camden Yards |
|
I know, right? It happens to me on other form input boxes also --- Facebook, Washington Post, anywhere I might tediously go on too long. IE hates Web 2.0. I've taken to typing up longer posts in Notepad and pasting them in.

The problem is I ramble too much and don't realize i'm going to type a long entry. I probably should just download chrome but I feel like having a browser that doesn't function with the work product is just an obvious "not doing work here" beacon.
|
themetfairy Jun 14 2010 08:38 AM Re: Camden Yards |
The bigger question is why are you still using IE instead of Firefox or Chrome?
|
Ceetar Jun 14 2010 08:39 AM Re: Camden Yards |
|
Work. our product only works in IE, so there is no reason to have another browser except for goofing off.
|
themetfairy Jun 14 2010 08:50 AM Re: Camden Yards |
In the 21st Century you have a product that only works in IE?
|
Willets Point Jun 14 2010 08:53 AM Re: Camden Yards |
|
Yeah, MicroSoft products. We use Sharepoint and Outlook Web Access at my work but they only function properly in IE which means I had to reinstall IE on my work computer and can't use them at all on my Mac at home.
|
Ceetar Jun 14 2010 08:58 AM Re: Camden Yards |

I wish it was just that. Let's just put it this way.. the product we use to develop it can't comprehend more than 4gigs of storage so that it thinks it's out of memory if it just 4 (or 8, or 12) gigs of space used. the "web help" link gives a 404.

get chrome or firefox, and install ietab. I have both chrome and firefox (i've been using chrome a lot more now..just seems faster), then installed the ietab extension. https://chrome.google.com/extensions/de ... mmjbdenadd firefox has the same thing. in the settings, say that any internal url (ie, anything within the http://mycompany.com) should open automatically with ietab. anything else will open with chrome.
