Does anyone know if there's any good reason they did this in all three games this weekend? Leaving aside aesthetics, choosing the black for two peak-hour day games in hot, humid conditions when the other guys are wearing white gives your team an actual-- if relatively minor*-- competitive disadvantage.

Re: IGT #69 - Mets at MFYs, 6/20/10

It seems to me that as long as we're playing one-run ball, we make ourselves prone to the the grandslam.

Now, we haven't been playing our annoying one-run strategy as much of late, but it's certainly possible that against Sabathia, Jerry and Johan are trying to heroically get out of that situation with no runs scoring. The smarter play by far is to get the batter and not worry much about the runner on third.

Just score here, Mets.

yeah, but they're burying Johan a little bit and a little bit too fast.

I still say that slam was part Johan trying to be too perfect and setting himself up for a clubbing, and part the genrosity of YSIII.

And sure, part Johan trying to find himself.

Re: IGT #69 - Mets at MFYs, 6/20/10

In a lot of ways it was a typical Mets/Yanx game in that the killer inning occurs via three consecutive shit hits followed by a blast. Typical in that the Yanx took advantage of it (I swear they must conduct 'shit hit batting practice' at least once a week) and that the Mets served up a granny.

Santana never looked comfortable the whole game. He was just working so goddam slow even before he got into trouble that, once he did, the result wasn't a surprise at all.

Got to watch the entire game on replay.

For me the turning point was right before the granny.
Swisher's bunt was a brilliant tactic in that situation.
And making a pitcher who is already throwing fast balls slower than usual
have to bust it in that heat, well....3 pitches later we saw the result.

And that damn homer just made it out.
Looks like it hit the top of the wall.
DAMN U GOB!
*shakes fist
