Thank you.
And to all you Yankee fans out there, I hope you find out who your father is, so you can celebrate next year.

Re: Happy Father's Day!

Had a great day, Saturday evening the missus took me shopping, you know you're a husband and father when that happens. Anyway I needed clothes for work , there were great sales and I am now supplied with enough pants, shirts ,socks and underwear for a few more years.

Yesterday though was great, we went to Belmont Park , met with my sister and her hubby and about ten others. Had great fun in the picnic area , Lorcan loved it, loved going to watch the horses run, was fascinated with the bugle call guy.

A drive that should take no more than 30 minutes ends up taking 90 because they close lanes on the Throggs Neck bridge for repairs , what a mess.

I went to high school with him! Sam Grossman is his name, he has an identical twin brother Irving. Sam & Irv were the two best trumpet players in school. MFY fans, but good guys, very funny, and extremely peculiar unto themselves -- playing whiffle ball with them was like entering a strange world.

Re: Happy Father's Day!

Lorcan was more interested in the tractors that came out after the race to fix the track .

Re: Happy Father's Day!

BetterHalfer got me the rerelease of "Exile on Main Street" in hard-copy form. YoungerPooper got me a pair of picture books she "selected" (LWBH read aloud a list of titles recommended to her by her sister the schoolteacher, and showed LWYP pictures of the covers as BH read each title; those titles that got the biggest reaction, I ended up receiving).

Raised by a single mom and surrounded by and large by women while growing up, I never really celebrated Father's Day as a kid. Most of the cousins I grew up around had either absentee Dads or Dads often-absent-by-circumstance (my uncle the Philippine Army colonel, e.g.), so it wasn't a big to-do in any of our family homes... and even less so once my grandfather died. It's nice to have a reason to celebrate, and not only because it gives me an excuse to screw around with my daughter for hours under the auspices of "quality time." (Less fun: accidentally clipping her thumb while nail-trimming in the morning, and juggling an anal-leakage situation in the supermarket line in the afternoon.)

Re: Happy Father's Day!

I got a new trimmer/edger for the lawn, and a few nice Jets t-shirts. Also homemade stuff from Fboy (a decorative paper "tie" with his photo on it) and Fgirl (a handpainted tin can to use as a pen/pencil/candy organizer on my desk). That, plus a weekend full of quality family time, a trip to the beach, a nap with my daughter, and time off from parenting to run a quick 5k up the street. All in all a terrific Father's Day weekend.

Those are some great shots. The ones of the horses almost look like oil paintings.

Just seeing these-- they're gorgeous, dude, just like those supersaturated '60s SI and Sport shots.
