Earthquake!!!

There was a 5.5 earthquake reported in Ontario at 1:41 this afternoon that was supposedly felt in northern New Jersey and parts of New York City.

I was in northern New Jersey at 1:41, and didn't feel a thing. Did anyone else notice anything?

Re: Earthquake!!!

Supposedly in Manhattan and Brooklyn. And another report said that a commercial building or two in Perth Amboy were evacuated as a precaution due to registered tremors.

(Work in Hell's Kitchen, and felt nothing here.)

Re: Earthquake!!!

The earth has been doing a lot of shaking in 2010.

I'm surprised I haven't heard much from people who are sure it's a build-up to the Mayan 2012 prophecy coming true.

Funny to see all my western & upstate NY friends on Twitter/FB post about it as it happened. A friend says he felt it in Melville, which I think might be horse hockey.

Re: Earthquake!!!

I felt an earthquake in Smithtown in the early 80's. Its epicenter was somewhere in Westchester County.

I've been to many earthquake hotspots: California, Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Italy, but the only quake I ever felt was in good old Smithtown, Long Island.

Re: Earthquake!!!

I'm downtown - didn't feel nuthin'.

Felt one in my life - in North Hollywood, California circa 1980.

Felt like a subway train running under my feet. By the time I realized it wasn't, it was over.
