3D movies poke their heads up once a decade or so it seems and someone will call them the thing of the future before they disappear in a wave of disinterest.

Does make one wonder. 3D has flopped so many times. Will Avatar, et al make it stick this time.

Imagine. It would look like Derek Jeter is right there in your living room, making everything in your house better.

one of the first 3D broadcasts was an Islanders Ranger game here. I don't have a TV, but I can't see it catching on until they perfect the "without glasses" technology. I tuned to the station anyway though, it was like two feeds of the game split on the tv, but I imagine that's because i neither had glasses or a 3d television.

I would normally expect 3D to fade away, but theaters have invested a lot (often against their wishes) in 3D equipment. That's the only thing that could keep it from surviving more than five years. Otherwise, it'll be gone by 2015.

I live my whole life in 3D, I can actually do without for however long a Mets or Jets game last (I don't watch much else on TV besides sports). I have two big-ass LCD televisions (55" and 46") that suit me just fine, without the queermo 3D goggles thanks.
