We need two extra men for our 25-man All-N.L. East roster. I'd like to fill it with a pair of players who aren't all-timers in the traditional sense, but the kinds of guys who are part of the fabric of divisional play. One will be a pure Met, one will be an opponent who may or may not have been a Met at some point. This poll will determine the Met -- a Met with no other affiliation during the N.L. East era (since 1969 -- please consider contributions from 1969 forward).

No Mark Carreon as a power bat on the bench?

Mark Carreon went on to play for other teams, but he crossed my mind, actually.

Apodaca had the best peak of the candidates. He gets virtually no recognition from anyone but die hard Mets fans for being unhittable in '75 and '76. Especially in 1975. If any current reliever in an option year pitched like Apodaca did in '75, that reliever would be able to live the rest of his life like a king from the spoils of his next contract.

Early returns indicates a renaming of this site to the Feliciano Forum may be in order...

Even if we didn't name him, Pedro Feliciano would get into the game somehow.

Had to go with Kranepool.

Well, you gotta have an extra catcher, or you're gonna have a lot of passed balls.

Feliciano indeed gets into the game, defeating the Krane (and Ron Hodges). He is your All-N.L. East Extra Met and a handy reliever to have, no doubt.
