Heat Wave

High nineties in New York for the next few days. We're expecting three digits.

Do your consciences a favor and give somebody some water. It's murder out there.

By all means.
But if they're wearing MFY garb, are we permitted to pass it through our system first?

Ooops.

I don't believe it. There's no way that I'll buy such poor decision-making and labored crisis-management coming out of this guy.

Re: Heat Wave

102 was the Central Park peak today
I think this may be the first official* over 100 day in NYC since that August 2001 day in the Shea bleachers when it topped out at 104 in the shade (and there weren't no shade).

* Official as in actual temperature and none of that 'heat index' or we factor in the humidity plus the square root of the winning lotto numbers so it 'feels like' shit.

Re: Heat Wave

It's 9:45 PM and according to the digital thermometer on my side porch it's currently 89.8 degrees. I don't even want to know what the heat index was today (or right now for that matter).

The forecast calls for tomorrow to be even hotter than it was today. I guess this is the price one pays for living in the south and it often being in the 60's during the winter months.

It's hard to beat the weather that Seo enjoys year round.

We're having the coldest winter in 27 years. The forecast for Friday is 53 degrees (on your scale).

Re: Heat Wave

I always have a difficulty with the concept that it's winter in July in many parts of the world. I also just don't imagine winter when I think of Australia.

My wife and hope to visit Australia some day (once the kids are out of college).

Had a softball doubleheader postponed this evening. Probably for the best, as someone definitely would have keeled over.

I swam into the second week of winter (with no wetsuit) while vacationing in the north, which is a new record for me. However, we actually do get snow in some places.

68 and breezy here in the Bay Area, where there is rarely a need for AC...

It was over triple digits here in DC today, but the saving grace was that it wasn't humid at all.

Re: Heat Wave

Well, it was 75% at sunrise, tailing off to 25% by peak temperatures. That's certainly below our standards, but it weren't no zero either.

How hot was it at the game last night?

Yesterday's temperature at LaGuardia's weather station was 93, with a heat index of 99 at game's end (9:40 pm).

California may have it's issues right now, but weather isn't one of them. You and Seo get to enjoy what I consider to generally be the best weather in the country.

It's a dry blast furnace.

Oh, you can usually find a spot where it's 110+ somewhere in California - although I did see a newspaper which credited Frederick, Md as the nation's hot-spot yesterday at 106.

Lovely - MK is at Boy Scout camp in Maryland this week.

The word sent to the parents from camp was that this is the first year ever where there have been no issues with making sure that the boys take their showers....

It is ALWAYS heavily humid here and during this heat wave, virtually no humidity at all.
That's VERY rare for this area.
I'm lovin this weather.
Its the cold frigid icy windy days that I can't deal with.
Gimme heat like this any day.

It's so hot today, you can fry an egg on the sidewalk; but only if you have ServSafe certification and 3 city permits.
