IGT 7/27 - Mets vs. MFCards - Turn this thing around

Willets Point

This is the game that will go down in history as the start of 'the streak.'

I'm with you. I haven't given up. They're six games out of the WC and it's still July. Give up? Tug McGraw would be rolling over in his grave if he heard any of this give up talk.

Re: IGT 7/27 - Mets vs. MFCards - Turn this thing around

Baseball Prospectus gives the Mets a 7.27046 per cent chance of making the playoffs. (4.30876 for the division, 2.96171 for the wild card.) That's down just over 16 points from seven days ago.

Re: IGT 7/27 - Mets vs. MFCards - Turn this thing around

Is that the same Baseball Prospectus that gave the Mets a 99.64% chance of making the playoffs on September 20, 2007? They're not credible.

Re: IGT 7/27 - Mets vs. MFCards - Turn this thing around

I don't think that's a reflection on their credibility; it's a reflection on how badly the Mets blew it.

Six summers ago, I was at Shea for young David Wright's first major league hit.

Tomorrow night, I will be at Citi Field for the debut of our new managing/coaching team, the group that will lead us to Valhalla in October.

I'm the answer, folks. ME.

The game's on MLB Network for out-of-towners.

In fact, this whole series is nationally televised as they will be on ESPN Wednesday then back to MLB Network for the gay dame on Thursday.

I guess there was "a touching incident" [insert joke here] during the argument cuz you don't normally get suspensions for simple ejections.
I did notice the ump pointing to his hat at one point possibly indicating that Jerry had "pecked" him [more set-up lines].

This is such a stupid rule. or interpretation of the rule. Like when umpires interpret a brushing of the uniform by the ball as a HBP despite the batter often not trying to get out of the way.

He deflects an easy third out into an RBI blahber.

The rule is very specific about (1) the batter having to get out of the way, and (2) the uniform counting as part of the batter's person. I don't think this is an issue or a matter of interpretation of the rules.

They showed the clip of Jerry's cap/bill touching the umps cap/bill as they jawed, and it was obviously unintentional.

1) The rule is a zero-tolerance rule to prevent arguers from even coming close to umpires. That way, even if it's accidental, you pay the price because you knew that going in. That's why it's different from the HBP rules

2) It's known as not having a union.
