I believe that Johan rolled out of bed this morning and thought, "If Matt Freaking Garza can toss a no-no, then so can I." Plus, he knows Jerry is less likely to pull him out in the ninth and insert Frankie if he's throwing a no-no. Of course, he'd really like to have a no-no and a 4-0 lead so it's not a save situation, just to be sure.

Man, Sutcliffe is horrible. He's just talking nonsense. The guy who appeared to be asking for an autograph had just thrown out the first pitch. Sutcliffe was trying to say that was the reason Santana had the rough first inning.

What a great throw by Molina. With the jump Jose got I didn't think Molina had a chance of getting him, but his throw was perfect. I like the aggression though. Odds of Castillo driving Reyes in from first were very slim. The Mets essentially were going to need back to back 2 out hits to get Reyes in so it was worth taking a chance on getting to second where a Castillo single could potentially score him. Tip your hat to the opposition for a great defensive play. Now the Mets will have Castillo leading off next inning in front of the meat of the order.

Wright not beating the throw into second, sliding past the bag, and then standing there when he hadn't been tagged yet ate at me the whole rest of the game.

One gigantic lowlight obviously (my personal 14-game Citi Field winning streak tried its best to stay alive but nothing lasts forever), but many highlights, none of which was bigger, particularly in the realm of Forums inspired by him, than getting to hang out with Ed Kranepool in two doses totaling approximately ten minutes...and when I say hang out, I mean stand next to him on the warning track behind the batting cage and spout an inanity every now and then to which he'd respond relevantly pleasantly. He's Ed Kranepool. And I sort of chatted with him. After that, what's a 13-inning, streak-breaking loss?

Why is Feliciano throwing to lefties from the third-base side of the rubbber, anyhow? Is he that screwed up right now? Anyhow, I've decided I'm fine with Dave Jauss running this team for four days or so while the Mets pretend to earnestly interview people before re-appointing Bobby Valentine.

He sticks around for 2-3 as the Mets come back (or try to), then you've got many, many more pitching/PHing options available in extras. No matter how you slice it, his value on the mound-- in terms of run prevention AND bullpen preservation (especially considering the early start today) trumps the value of the best possible scenario for Carter, no?
