I give up on that, but I have to try the ol' switcheroo. I predict Pelfrey will give up 14 hits tonight. Scattered hits....really, really scattered, cause we are gonna win. Winning, however, is not my prediction. That's just a foreknown fact.

Pelfrey's giving Ollie a run for his oh no money. Maybe Ollie could "mop up" by starting Pelfrey's turns and Pelf could come in in the second. Sure it sounds crazy... But what about this dopey theory I'll happily espouse: Pelfrey began to be less wonderful right about the time Manuel told Pelf's BFF Maine that he was completely dispensable to the team. Right around when I noticed Pelf had a new bench buddy in Dickey, I was impressed how he adapted to the realities of the business. But I wonder if there was something to the Pelfrey-Maine relationship that made Pelf a good pitcher. Then again, Maine had his best season when Guillermo Mota shared a clubhouse with him, so I'm talking out my hat.

If it's a nice hat that's okay.

My theory is that his goal and motivation this season was to make the All-Star team. And when he didn't, even as a reserve, after such an awsum 1st half that basically assured it, he became deflated and unfocused.

I think he just has to refind and renew his motivational objectives.

Course his downward spin started a lil before the break, but thats okay, cause I'm saying this out of your hat.

It's a good error because Pelfrey doesn't give up unearned runs. So the strategy is for Reyes to make an error with Pelf on the mound because the error is supposed to guarantee that the runner'll be stranded on base. And if he scores, it's Jerry's fault. Get it?
