For what, I don't know. But the Twitterverse is abuzz.

I can't imagine the Mets will get much for him.

They just traded that fat first baseman prospect to Houston yesterday.

What's the chance that the player to be named later ends up being Mike Jacobs?

That would be Chiting.

Edgy DC Jul 30 2010 12:16 PM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
Got to be Downs, right?
|
seawolf17 Jul 30 2010 12:20 PM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
Not necessarily. PTBNL, apparently. Don't know why they'd give us a live arm for Jacobs.

I'm not sure a dead arm wouldn't be too much for Jacobs.

triple-slashed?

TransMonk Jul 30 2010 12:37 PM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
"triple-slashed"?
|
Edgy DC Jul 30 2010 12:39 PM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
I bet you the kids are all "triple-slashed this" and "triple-slashed that" and we're hopelessly out of the loop on it all.

It's only a model.

That makes sense to me. Jacobs wouldn't be enough to net Downs, of course. If your guess is correct, then the Mets get to keep their PTBNL for the remainder of the pennant race (such as it is). The Jays won't need their new guy for the remainder of this season. But wouldn't Downs have to be "named" by tomorrow in order to not have to clear waivers? If so, then we'll know whether or not he's the guy within the next 25 hours and 16 minutes.

Found this on a CBC site:
Maybe Gregg or Frasor is the PBTNL? (They'd come cheaper than Downs.) Gregg, RHP, 32 years old, has a 3.63 ERA in 39.2 innings in 40 games. Frasor, RHP, 33 in two weeks, is at 4.62 in 39 innings and 44 games.

I've always liked Frasor for whatever reason. Little guy, can strike you out.

smg58 Jul 30 2010 03:27 PM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
I'd consider a glazed doughnut sufficient value in return for Jacobs.

I like Frasor, too. Downs and Gregg, I'd take.

Frayed Knot Jul 30 2010 03:44 PM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
Yeah, there's no way it's Downs - the Jays supposedly asked for Nieuwenhuis in exchange just a few days ago.

I was thinking it's ptbnl because the Jacobs name leaked via Buffalo.

Best I can tell, Toronto still owes us something for this.

Edgy DC Jan 11 2011 08:12 AM Re: Mike Jacobs to Toronto |
Wow, the dude has already moved on to a different organization and the Jays haven't paid for him yet.

Didn't we get Ricciardi?

I'd make that deal again!
