I like Telly. He doesn't really have a hook to him. I mean, yeah, he's a monster, but so is Cookie and Grover and probably a half dozen others. He's just got a personality that's a little different that he doesn't have to work to hard to sell. He's like the Rowlf of Sesame Street. I bet Ron Darling loves to read the back of his baseball cards to people.

Telly was originally obsessed with television (hence the name) but that characteristic didn't prove as interesting/educational as being obsessed with cookies or counting. He eventually phased into being a generally anxious monster.
