Curtain number one, Monte. Good acting in number two, but the whole team needs to be in on the contrivance, which is tiresome, and you have to bend your brain to see any releavance. In number one, somebody gets a free piece of sports equipment, and he enters into the production with full awareness that he's one bad bounce away from looking stupid.

Could you imagine the abuse a guy would get if he sustained an injury flopping around on the field like a marlin? Could you imagine the brushback pitch Casey McGehee would get if the Brewers celebrated a Prince Fielder homerun like that?

Yeah, but baseball fans-- myself included-- are generally dicks about stuff like this. (It's the money.) The Icelandic thing is contrived. But then, my favorite jokes are crafted, and my favorite movies are meticulously edited... and hey, they have to be good in order to use it. (Or should I say, "them?")
