He's the 8th inning guy tonight.

I mean, Jerry's tried everything else right?

I believe in the case of vacation, business trip, death, etc., you should name the successor of your game-thread mojo.

Re: IGT--Rockies @ Mets, 08/12/10

Today's game is the spiritual descendant - even if not on the exact anniversary of - the picnic area at Shea gathering of nine years ago now.
A Thursday 'Nooner' game with a sub-.500 NYM club pretending that they're on the periphery of a division race and a couple regulars sitting out.
The main difference then is that the weather that day wasn't nearly as cool and pleasant as it's been here lately.

Now all we need is a Joe McEwing HR and a 5-out save from Rick White and we're good to go.

That's because the Game Thread Mojo Scorecard hasn't been updated since we were 10 games over .500.

The rain hit us hard as hell this morning --- as hard as any rain in years.

Flash floods, violent thunder, power outages, the whole bit. It may be heading your way. It didn't really last much more than an hour, but that may be enough.

A rainout would be enough time for the team to think through some things, some things.

Darling was among the best athletes on the 86ers.

A commitment to the starting pitcher, letting him swing away, a two-run tack-on rally, Reyes driving them nuts on the basepaths, and even a walk. Wouldn't it be great if these were the real Mets that showed up this inning?

Great game to attend. Hung out with my old friend and his far too many kids, got to play a little at Kiddie Field because we got there early, had a Shake Shack Burger AND a Shake-cago Dog (both just as advertised), got a nice win.

Johan Santana in my two Citi Field games this year: 2-0, 0.00, 16 IP, 9 H, 15 K. Hey, Mets? You know where to find me if you want to send me tickets for the rest of his starts.

When Santana came up in the seventh, I yelled "bunting is for losers!" at the top of my lungs and sure enough, Santana had that base hit. You're all welcome.
