Picked Up By The Press

In the course of my work on Capitol Hill, I've had the good fortune to work on a number of interesting issues. I recently took the lead for our office in seeking a change in Department of Transportation reporting requirements for pets that are lost, injured, or killed while on board airplanes. After my boss sponsored the law 10 years ago in the House that instituted these rules, the Department of Transportation decided to interpret them in a narrow fashion, causing many cases to slip through the cracks. While I've been working on this issue for months, a recent story about 7 puppies dying on an American Airlines flight got the public consciousness back on this issue, and when we finally put out the letter (which we got two other offices to sign on to) it ended up getting more attention. So it turns out that the letter I drafted on behalf of the Senator got picked up by a few news outlets, which I found pretty damn cool.
