I'm more stunned at Tejada not Castillo than anything involving Frenchy. I mean, not even the seemingly customary free start as reward for the game-winning hit deal. Or even not the radical idea of sitting down the guy who's making outs 95% of the time.

At least the 'Friends of Frenchy Society' (they meet in a phone booth outside of SNY studios each day) can argue that 2 of his 5 outs drove in runs last night, whereas the 'Tejada Zapatas' have to console themselves with the realization that in his HS yearbook he was consistently voted the boy most likely to ground-out.

In all seriousness, if you're looking forward, you can make a case for starting Tejada over Castillo right now (not that it would be the most compelling one, but still). If you take a good look at fact, and you're honest with yourself, there IS no reason you should pencil in Frenchy, who's neither the win-now candidate nor the look-forward candidate.

Working out a walk takes at least some degree of skill in most cases. Standing there while 4 wide ones are called for from the opposing dugout based on a strategy move (and a bad one at that IMO but that's a separate story) doesn't qualify for anything resembling an ability to get oneself on base. In fact, take out Tejada's HBPs and IWs and his OBA comes in at a ringing .204 this season (as opposed to his otherwise robust .268) and I don't even want to know what it's been more recently. This is an odd argument we're having. Yes it is. My only point here is that I can make a better argument for Francoeur starting than I can for Tejada - at least as long as the intention is, y'know, like trying to win games and stuff.

I'll take Tejada over Castillo. Luis has no 2011 Mets future as where Tejada could for many years. It also tells you I've given up on 2010.

My glove from '78. Rawlings "Heart of the Hide". Made in the USA. Man, I loved that glove. Used it up thru the 80s playing softball. Maybe early 90's too. Bought the same model glove to replace it and it was stolen from my equipment bag before I even worked it in. :(

Does anybody here really think that Frenchy the cocksucker was aiming to place a ground ball in between the second baseman and shortstop?

Disappointing game, but great company - I had a lot of fun with The Second Spitter and Lunchbucket.

That's the problem. Tejada's ongoing performance makes that unsustainable. If you play Francoeur, it's because you sincerely think --- wisely or not --- he's the best candidate to help you win today, tomorrow be damned. But the same argument absolutely has to lead one to give up on Tejada. And that's why a lot of us are scratching our heads. We not only disagree with Jerry; Jerry disagrees with Jerry.
