Old faces in relatively new places... Luis Castillo – 2B David Wright – 3B Carlos Beltran – CF Jeff Francoeur – RF Ike Davis – 1B Henry Blanco – C Chris Carter – LF Ruben Tejada – SS Jonathon Niese – P According to Mets PR: David Wright has started in the second spot 14 previous times, last on May 12, 2007 vs. Milwaukee. The last time Jeff Francoeur started in the clean up spot was October 3, 2009 vs. Houston. Luis Castillo started in the leadoff spot 18 times in 2009, last on September 16 at Atlanta.

Pagan is day to day with right wrist tendinitis. Tonight's bench is Hessman, Thole, Reyes, Hernandez, Pagan. If Francoeur is traded before the end of the game, and Pagan can't play, who takes his place in the OF?

Hessman plays the outfield. And if he doesn't, I'm sure he'd tell Jerry he does. And Jerry would believe him.

Doublechecking... 84 games in the outfield in his minor league career, including four as recently as 2009. He's pitched four times and caught once also. Never fear when Mike is here. We are the Mess and he is our Hess.

Pagan is day to day with right wrist tendinitis. Fman has a thread for that. This is a great looking lineup. Wish we saw a variation of it earlier.

Sickening, and all on Castillo. That said, we have the bases loaded and no outs and the best we can do is a couple sack flies. And the Braves do what every other team does against us with the bases loaded. How close are we to that grand slam record?

This team is pathetic. I can't remember when I have been as indifferent to the Mets as I have become in the past two weeks. I find this team boring to watch unless R.A. Dickey is pitching. Their play is uninspired, so I now often choose not to watch them when I have the opportunity to do so. It's not the losing, Lord knows I'm accustomed to that as a Mets fan, but their total lack of offense and seemig lack of organizational direction has me in a "wait 'til next year" frame of mind as we enter September.

I'm not even feeling "wait til next year". Its more like wait til next owner. Yesterday, when Jeff Wilpon was asked if he would trade David Wright and break up the teams core he replied: "Is he part of the core?" What a stupid response. So yea, okay, Jeff Wilpon is now officially a fuckin idiot.

Minaya has some positives to hang his hat on this year, I'm thinking about the young ones that have come through. Weather they outweigh the negative is Jeff's call.
