I think it would be crazy fun ---- though probably not crazy productive --- if they got Jerry Krause back from the White Sox and turned the GM reigns over to him.

An interesting thing here is that the Mets might make make a very rare outside hire for GM.

Omar's tenure (if we look at dates of hire or games GM'd) is second only to Cashen's. He arrived this weekend six years ago.

Exactly. The reason a GM gets fired is generally* because someone in a higher position thinks he has made poor personnel decisions. If that is true, then why should the GM's replacement come from a group of persons who that GM decided to hire? Later * does not include boffing the secretary of a road team or other pecadillos that have embarassed the major league club.
