If they didn't hate America, why would they be trying to beat a team representing the city where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were drawn up? At least that's what Jeff Wilpon whispered to Dave Lennon. We're assuming they'll be trying to beat them: Mejia versus Halladay. First Labor Day, then Rosh Hashanah...sure are a lot of Halladays this week. I hope it's not mandatory that Ollie and Luis show up for this team event either.

And if the Mets didn't hate America, why did they cancel sunglasses day? Clearly they knew fans would need the shades to cut down on the glare from all the Koran-burning good Americans like Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino and Jayson Werth will be doing.

A really craptacular performance by Meija there. The 3-2 single to Valdez was just an absolute killer, particularly after his teammates scored him 3 runs just the half-inning prior. Great company for the later innings as Second Spitter and Luncbucket joined the Gwreck party in some nice seats the Mets gave us for free...

OK one thing: We were sitting in centerfield. A guy in a MARINES jacket took it upon himself to unleash a few minutes of loud profanities toward Beltran as he took his place in the field in the 2nd inning. The whole thing makes me sick.
