Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

Mets "startling" lineup as the e-mail subject line from their PR folks put it:

Jose Reyes – SS
Angel Pagan – RF
Carlos Beltran – CF
David Wright – 3B
Ike Davis – 1B
Lucas Duda – LF
Josh Thole – C
Luis Hernandez – 2B
Dillon Gee - P

Not that startling, actually.

And those other bastards:

Infante 2B
Heyward RF
Prado 3B
McCann C
Lee 1B
McLouth CF
Gonzalez SS
Diaz LF
Hudson P

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

Wrong Tim.
Pagan would not have been out if Hudson hit him in the back.
Of course it's certainly possible the ump would have blown that call if it did.

Jerry must love Angel and his bunting ability.

Drive him in David.

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

Gee gives up a first inning run :(
Lee singles, McLouth doubles him in.

MONGO OFF INTERSTATE NOW! HIT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT, HE DOES!

Thole singles, putting leg-men at 1st and 3rd with one down. Might we be getting a stew going here?

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

With one out Duda does da double ding, Thole singles him to third, and there he strands as Hernandez and Gee wiff to end the inning. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Mets.com's headline:

Dillon geeked up to play spoiler role in third MLB start

Huh?

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

Writers should check name pronunciation before getting punny.

So as to get something more accurate, like, JOSE REY-PED! HUDSON GIVES IT UP ON SCREAMER INTO THE RIGHT FIELD SEATS!

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

I'd love to see the Braves strand a guy on 3rd after getting a guy there with no out.
Other teams do this too, right?

I hope to see Jose GET NAKED before this season ends.

The Zvon version, not the actual disrobing.

HERNANDEZ!
WOW, that was the most interesting homer of the year.
Now I'm guessing Hernandez is out for the rest of the season with a fractured foot.

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

I think Luis's time around the bases still beat ARod's time from last night - of course Luis didn't immediately pause and look towards the dugout for his standard 'check me out' smirk.

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

More Trachsel-on-speed than Reeder II, but Gee's having hisself a tidy game. I'd gladly sign on for a year of this at the back end.

Luis still beat Darryl Strawberry's time after homering of Al Nipper.

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

The Fox team is hoping to get an updated, semi-accurate diagnosis about Luis Hernandez from the Mets trainers before game's end.

That's adorable.

Tim McC: 'if Bobby Cox were a football coach about 98% of his players would graduate'

Hey Tim, if 98% of Cox's players were on track to graduate he'd be losing a shit-load of games to the point where he'd never make it to 32 years as a coaching

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

It would be typical for the Mets get back a run and load the bases here in the 9th and then not score.
This would happen because it would be the most painful way for it to go.

Wright Ks to start the inning so maybe they will put me out of my misery nice and quick.

POP QUIZ: Francisco Rodriguez will throw his perfect game, concluding a 70-save season with a sub-1 ERA and WHIP...

A) For the Marlins, October 2013, to deny the Mets a playoff spot on the season's ultimate day

B) For the Phils, October 2014, to give the Phils their fourth straight division title

C) For the MFYs, October 2016, on a whim by manager Bobby Valentine

D) Why, God, why

I wanna say the Phils won't touch him with a ten foot bat but if it's going to be the worst possible scenario, which it will be, it'll be B.

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

If the Mets successfully shed K-Rod, don't look back.

Meanwhile, with Hernandez pulling a Bucky Dent, how about advocating for the Mets to call Justin Turner back from his vacation?

Was there any update as to Hernandez's injury?
I don't think anyone in this organization deserves a vacation, so, yea.

Broke a bone in his foot.

I'm certain Turner wouldn't think of a recall as punitive.

And if they don't suit up a fourth one, they might be forced to play Castillo.

Re: IGT 09/18 -- Braves at Mets

Three Mets -- Santana, Mejia, Hernandez -- have been lost for the season this September. We're doing as well in the war of attrition as we are in the standings.

Staying in the game to hit a homer after breaking your foot is the kind of thing that allows reserve infielders to retain their roster spot the next year.
