Go Get Bobby V

The end of the season is near. We have a small window to create a grassroots movement to bring back Bobby V. Somehow we have to get this message out there.

I'm open to ideas.

Hold a charity banquet, invite him to speak, invite the Wilpons.

Do NOT dress up like him and show up outside SNY.

I think you could make something like 35 dollars.

If they don't go get Bobby, It's not a $$ issue that's stopping them, right?
Cause if they were willing to go for Torre then they were willing to spend the money.

During all that Torre talk I heard nothing from the Mets indicating that they were not interested in him.

Or that they were.

We have seen nothing that indicates they were willing to pay Joe Torre.

Yes, but few brought up the money angle. It's almost like they only bring up the money story if it doesn't conflict with other stories they want to write.

About the travails of a trio of woebegone Mets fans, scouring the country in search of the one man who they feel will save their franchise.

I'd watch.

We've heard almost nothing from the Mets full-stop. For like months. I'd hardly conclude that they're interested in him because his names's been floated and they haven't stooped to deny interest. Netiher have they denied interest in Wally Backman, Bob Melvin, or Winona Ryder.

Co-starring John Schuck and Dick Van Patten, with special guest star Robert Hegyes.

Wynona Ryder could teach the team how to steal bases.

I'm not sure which comes first, the rim shot or the hearty laugh.

Here's one: Call Alan Trammell. Offer him a job. Pray he takes it.

Currently?

Jim Leyland, DET, 5 seasons
Bruce Bochy, SF, 4 seasons
Bud Black, SD, 4 seasons
John Russell, PIT, 3 seasons
Dusty Baker, CIN, 3 seasons
Jerry Manuel, NYM, 2.5 seasons

Obviously Baker and either Bochy or Black is coming off this list very shortly.

I assume he meant without ever winning a division title. Leyland, Bochy, and Dusty all have done so.

He won 9 pennants, though.
