coming down the home stretch...

...and Smggy is lapping the field. premature congrats.
That leaves GYC and me fighting it out for 2nd place, with NYmr and Beltran's Hammy close behind.

In retrospect, the season was probably decided in the 6th round of the draft, when i picked Cantu and Smggy took Carlos Gonzalez 6 picks later.
Ah, well.

Considering i had to auto-pick the last third of the draft and then deal with numerous injuries to expected contributors (as we all did, i'm sure) [Vic to F-Rod: Drop Dead!], and even though i made some inexplicable moves (why on earth did i waive Buster Posey, after waiting all season for him to show up?), i can't complain about my season.

I agree, I don't think I ever really recovered from missing the draft and having to fill my roster with "I hope someone gets hurt and this guy gets more playing time" guys. I made a lot of trades but I hovered a couple places from the bottom most of the season.

Next year if/when we do NL only I think we might benefit from 1-2 less teams, or maybe no util guy or something.

Re: coming down the home stretch...

I got really worried that Cargo wouldn't get back to me. I had him last year, and had a hunch on him, but I didn't want to grab him too early. (The other guy I talked myself out of grabbing too early was Jonathan Broxton. Whew!)

A big key for me was that a few people autodrafted the second half. I was grabbing guys like Kelly Johnson and Scott Rolen while other people were autodrafting guys who had been benched or demoted.

The one thing I did wrong was let Hong Chih Kuo go after two appearances. I was looking for one more reliever, and decided I could do better.

I had some super luck as well. The fact that Tommy Hanson has fewer wins than Tyler Cippard isn't such a bad thing when you also have Tyler Clippard.

Basically, everything went right. Even Lucas Duda is contributing (9 RBI in 36 AB's since I picked him up).

But thanks to Vic and everybody else. Now to figure out how to top this.

Yeah, Broxton single-handedly killed me in 2 leagues. At least the CPF league didn't cost me $200.

The fun for me this season was the live draft...had a blast and it was all downhill after that
