Duda destroyed that pitch. Nice going Lucas. With Pagan, Bay & Beltran in the OF, and Evans out of options, does Duda stay as an extra OF, go to Buffalo for a full-season, or is he part of trade? Buffalo seems most likely.

Re: I.G.T 10/2/2010 Wash @ NY

Why do fans wearing a jersey from the home team celebrate so much when they catch a HR from an opposing player (as that guy in the Reyes jersey just did after the ball from the Morse HR basically fell at his feet)? It's not like you're making the highlight reel tonight dude.

I realize this isn't exactly a make or break game for either club but I've seen the same thing in much more important situations as if the ball is more important to them than the game.

Nationals TV went out during Wright's AB. Conspiracy?

The TV feed came back as Ike was up. I don't remember seeing David stand at the plate and watch the ball, then flip the bat, like he did. True?

Added: the Nationals announcers, including Ray Knight, didn't mention that Wright got thrown at earlier in the AB. No wonder he flipped the bat.

Mets beat writers start tweeting that it's wrong for Dickey to pitch in relief and be exposed to injury. Howie says "nice gesture" by Jerry so Dickey can get an ovation.

I agree w/you but the thrill of catching a HR ball must make people forget the consequence of the HR.

Except that this guy's "catch" was essentially picking up a rebound that bounced four times and landed at his feet.
And the one in today's game wasn't so bad, it just reminded me of one I saw several weeks ago during a non-Met game. I even forget which game (might have been the Skanks) but the home team gave up a devastating HR late in the game that erased a lead and the dude that wound up with the ball, even though he's wearing the home colors, is jumping around like he just won the lottery and also found out that the over-sized cardboard check is going to be delivered by a naked super-model.
Gee, glad to have you in the audience ace.

Hooray! The Mets win the season series from the Nationals and put the pressure on the Marlins tonight.

Strange the way the bullpen has been emptied today. Stranger still is Green's role as the righthander who gets that one key out in the sixth inning or earlier.

Nice to see the Dickey tick a little off his ERA, though.

Jerry knew that R.A. needed help in the Swannie award list.

The pitch before was a fastball at his chin.

Howie called it the slowest trot of Wright's career but good for him. We can't beat Tyler Fucking Clippard enough. I hope he comes out and takes another vicious cockpunch tomorrow.

What I am forgetting about that seems to have Tyler Clippard atop everyone's shit list?
I mean besides him being a former MFY and all.

Citi Field, revealing its true nature as a bandbox today. Move the fences back already!

I have never seen Wright flip his bat like that and I thought, after the one up and in, YEA FUCKIN-A DAVID! YOU SHOW HIM MAAAAAAN! Looks like he may have said something in the pitchers direction too. I was very glad to see him react like that. Show some spunk Wright! uDaMaN!

Threw the entire Met season in the dumper that game did. And could have ruined the MFYs for years.

Re: I.G.T 10/2/2010 Wash @ NY

Yeah, I remember that game. I just couldn't remember if Clippard did something particularly assholish on top of it.

The Nats have had a killer bullpen this season, one which was barely dented by the mid-season trade of their closer (hint, hint) and Clippard's been a big part of that, especially recently. In fact, he was on some 17 consecutive innings scoreless streak prior to Thole's HR. Nice that we could get to him two nights in a row.

The Nats have had a fine pen, and one whose complexion has changed as the season went on, but I think the Mets have gotten to it pretty regularly this season.

Yeah. As much as the last couple of seasons have wore us down, I think it's had a similar affect on Wright at times. Frustrating.

And he didn't just dink that one over the fences, he absolutely smashed it off the Left Field Landing.
