Yesterday's rumors had Kirk Gibson being re-upped in Arizona despite a nothing special record since his mid-season takeover.

I'll count it when it happens. As it is, the teams already in the market have a theoretical head start on the Braves.

I don't think this is true, theoretical or otherwise. If anything, the Braves have a theoretical head start on everybody because they've known this vacancy was coming for quite a while.

And yet, they haven't announced that they've appointed anybody, and certainly won't be while the team is still playing.

Cox threw another layer atop those who doubt him actually staying retired when he told reporters that the cruise the team gave him as one of his going-away gifts has already been booked by his wife ... for April 2011.
