Once again, this is a mere formality. I'm pretty sure I know how this one will go.

As Greg said in his Faith and Fear column today, I've been a diehard Texas Rangers fan since about 11:00 last night.

Giradi is plotting how he'll avoid Cliff Lee in this round.

We gave them Lee Mazzilli once. So they have that going for them.

49 years on the schneid. Win a pennant for Texas!

Or this Texas Ranger will roundhouse kick you in the heads:

I really like Ian Kinsler. He reminds me of a David Eckstein with actual skills.

Conclusive proof that if the Mets had signed Vlad Guerrero and Bengie Molina when they had the chance, and acquired quality character guys like Jeff Francoeur, that they'd be World Series-bound.

Oh, wait.

I want Joe Girardi to wear uniform #28 for the rest of his life.

And I hope it's a long life.

Replay advocates rejoice! Angel Hernandez is in the crew for the ALCS. After he screws up (and you know this will happen at least once... per game! Am I right people!), the advocates of instant replay will have an even stronger case.

Because he's delightful, and ultra-competent at his job?

"That supposed to be funny, tough guy?"

And because he has a soft mouth?

"THAT'S IT! SCREW WARNINGS, YOU'RE GONE! GET THE F*CK OUT OF HERE, YOU MISERABLE, LIMP-WRISTED F*CK! GO PLAY ON THE GAWKER BOARD WITH THE OTHER F*GS!"

Jesus, Angel. I was just kidd--

"I HOPE YOUR FAMILY DIES IN A FIRE, WHICH LATER GETS RUN OVER BY A GIGANTIC CLOWN CAR! IF YOU DO NOT LEAVE THIS FORUM IMMEDIATELY, I WILL KICK YOUR GRANDFATHER IN THE GUT AND MAKE A MUD PIE OUT OF YOUR DEAD GRANDMOTHER'S ASHES! AND THEN I WILL PRESS THAT MUD PIE IN A PANINI IRON WITH SOME PICKLE AND CHEESE, AND HAVE MYSELF A DELIGHTFUL DEAD-GRANDMOTHER CUBAN SANDWICH!"

That's repugnant, man. We're just talking about baseb--

"THAT'S IT. THIS A-HOLE'S GOT TO LEARN A LESSON ABOUT PROPORTIONATE RESPONSE, THE RAPEY WAY! BRING IN THE GIMP, JOE! AND MAKE SURE YOU DON'T USE A RUBBER!"

Re: ALCS Rooting interest poll

The current tally of Rangers 25 MFYs 0 spread over four games would really work nicely.

30-0 for the Rangers. I thought maybe SJR hadn't found this thread yet. Then I looked up and see that he had. Steve's going to blow his image as a closet Yankees fan if he keeps this up.

Re: ALCS Rooting interest poll

I'll make a proposal to the baseball gods/goddesses:

If you guarantee that Sabathia and Pettitte and, say, two key offensive starters will be hurt enough to not participate in the next round, I wouldn't mind seeing the MFYs sneak through.

Assuming they're playing the Giants. 'Cause I think that would be fun.

Re: ALCS Rooting interest poll

Whereas I'm kind of rooting FOR the Giants (like the pitching, like the Panda, like the oldies, like the fanbase, like the town), I'm pretty much ONLY rooting against the MFYs here. It also occurs to me that I don't particularly enjoy watching the Rangers (as I do, say, the Rays), and that I kind of enjoy watching the MFYs suffer. So, while losing will more or less shut up the fans-- and, frankly, be preferable-- I would be okay with their getting through to face a hale, healthy opponent in the next round, so long as they're sufficiently-- read: Job in pinstripes-- tenderized, and for 6-7 extra-inning games.

The enjoyment would derive from watching a "powerless" Giants team demoralize the MFYs for 4-5 games after doing so to the Phils, and-- I really do sound like Rajahs here, don't I?

No, I think by "series" he meant "a series of punches to the neck and kicks to the cunt, administered on television."

I came here to say much the same thing. I'm officially declaring the Texas Rangers on my Eternal Shitlist for that suckjob they put out there last night.
