That's right. You read correctly. No, I'm not making this up. Sylvester Stallone is making the sixth "Rocky" movie, titled "Rocky Balboa". Still don't believe me? Check it out: [url]http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051017/en_nm/stallone_dc He's actually goddamn doing it.

Yes, because boxing ignites media firestorms in this day and age. There's no way this movie can end with Rocky winning and still being a good movie.

It's already starting with a bad title. After Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, and Rocky V, how can he not call the next one Rocky VI?

As outlandish as it is for him to return to the character, I always thought the real over-the-top move would be for him to do a movie called Rocky VI: Rambo IV. He could play Rocky as a genial old shlub of a former champ on a good-will tour in a mosquito-ish part of the world, confused in his punch drunk mind about when he became a man of all symbol and no substance. While on tour, he'd get kidnapped by a bunch of generic olive-skinned guys who need shaves and say "chit" when things go bad. John Rambo, trip-wire vet, is tired by bad news rolling in from Iraq. He happens to be a boxing fan, and sees the kidnapping as the final affront on the dignity of the country he gave so much for, even though they can't get their act together, train an army that can kick ass as well as he can, or find him a dignified place in their society. So he ties on an anachronistic headband, oils himself up, and starts a one-man war to rescue the champ. During the rescue, Rocky does something redemptive, saves a little girl or something. Rambo gets his country's respect and a cushy reality TV show gig. One moves from beloved symbol to substance, the other moves from substance to beloved symbol, and Survivor gets to put on their berets and cut another crappy single. Stallone puts both of his beasts to bed in one crappy film.

Actually, the real over-the-top move would be for him to work in his character from Over the Top.

Remember the tv show Alien Nation? http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/trekker/aliennation.html It takes place in the "future" (from when it was made in the 90's). If you remember the intro every week, they show the main street of the city. The marquee (sp?) of the local movie house shows that Rocky VI is playing. I think they were trying to be funny. The fact that there really will be another in the series might be funnier than they intended. Later

During the ALDS they ran a graphic that said that of Chone Figgins' favorite movie ever is Rocky V. At least Chone should be excited for the first sequel to his favorite movie.

Stallone wants Roy Jones Jr to play the current World Title holder that Rocky fights, in a twist Adrian is dead , Burt young will be back to play his brother, he must be 80.

Paulie is Adrian's brother. Did you just actually miss a plot detail from the Rocky films? More importantly, why does Adrian spell her name like a guy? shouldn't it be Adrienne?

BY BILL HUTCHINSON DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER He was thought to be down for the count, but Rocky Balboa is ready to rise from the mat one more time for a big-screen comeback. Sylvester Stallone, who created and starred as the street-smart brawler with the eye of the tiger, confirmed reports yesterday that he's raring to get back in the ring. The sixth installment in the boxing saga will be simply titled "Rocky Balboa" and Stallone will play the aging pugilist yearning to recapture his glory days. "'Rocky Balboa' is about everybody who feels they want to participate in the race of life, rather than be a bystander," Stallone said. "You're never too old to climb a mountain, if that's your desire." Shooting is scheduled to begin in December in Las Vegas and Philadelphia, where Rocky got his start. The movie, which is backed by MGM, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios, is scheduled to be released on Thanksgiving 2006. Stallone, 59, who will also write and direct the film, has already revealed one of the biggest twists in the upcoming movie: Adrian is dead! In the earlier films, Rocky always leaned on his wife, Adrian, for support, crying out "Yo, ADRIAN!" in the famous scene from the first film after a bloody battle with then-reigning champ Apollo Creed. And while Adrian is dead, it is yet to be determined whether Talia Shire, the actress who played her, "might appear in a flashback" scene, said Stuart Herriot, a spokesman with Revolution Studios. But, he said, Burt Young will return as Adrian's brother, Paulie. In the new film, Rocky, now a lonely 60-year-old widower, gets a chance to prove himself again when he is offered a bout with fictional reigning heavyweight champ Mason (The Line) Dixon. "The champion's management says let's do this for real, for charity. Rocky says no but decides to be true to himself even though he's going to be berated by everyone. Just to compete, not to win," Stallone told Daily Variety. The actor revealed that he's trying to get the real former heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr. to play Dixon. "I am drawing on a lot of my feelings that are in synch with many people's feelings about facing the last chapter of their lives and how they want it to be written," Stallone said. "Rocky goes through the skepticism of trying to go against the tide, to go against common sense." The "Rocky" franchise has grossed $495 million in the U.S. alone and the first movie, released in 1976, won three Oscars - including Best Picture. he's doing it for Charity...figures

The makeup people will have it all to do, Sly will be 60 for Christ's sake, what's he thinking,I guess a sequel to Cobra wouldn't be as appealing.

Later It was one of the plot points in all of the other Rocky's except, oddly enough, Rocky V, where he quit because of brain damage, not age.

Lincoln Hawk needs to reconnect with his son and learn to live as a handicap whose arm-wrestling career is over! Or is it? During a cross-country trip to San Francisco via Las Vegas in an 18-wheeler, we learn that "meet me halfway" is not a song about Lincoln's stump, but about compromises we all have make in life. Climaxing with Lincoln's toughest challenge yet -- arm-wrestling left-handed -- OVER THE TOP II is a touching film about love, redemption, and arm wrestling.

And the answer is... Mason 'The Line' Dixon.." "What is... a more contrived name for a fictional championship-level heavyweight boxer than 'Tommy Gunn'?" "Correct! You choose again." The actor, like Stallone back in the day, seems a few buckets of chicken shy of actual heavyweight status.
