This is a thread to track those players outrighted to minors who refused their assignments--and who might be valuable for our 2006 team.

Whoa whoa whoa. Bernie Castro is a free agent? The dude filled in for Brian Roberts quite well at the end of the season in Baltimore, batting leadoff most games. Pick him up.

We could have an entire bench of guys named Castro. Is Raul available? Or Bernadette?

Bernie Castro would definetaly make a good backup at 2B.

Payton would make a nice fourth outfielder if we trade Floyd or Cameron.

Mark Bellhorn becomes a free agent. He had a terrible 2005 (better than Matsui or Cairo, however, with his .681 OPS), but he's another guy I'd take a flyer on. He earned $2.7M last year and is sure to get a sizeable paycut.

Elster88 thinks that Bellhorn would only be a bench option, at best, and Elster88 likes all three of the backup middle infielders from '05 better. Plus, all we need to do is bring two of them back. Elster88 votes for Woodward and Marlon.

Haven't Bellhorn's previous employers not been too happy about his glovework, never mind his massive strikeouts. I'm with Elster88, Woody and Marlon are better options.
