Two overhead subway posters.

If that was Woody Flynn instead of Doug, you wouldn't be feeling bidder's remorse.

Edgy DC Oct 11 2005 10:34 AM |
I sure as Hell remember the campaign, but not those particular posters.

Johnny Dickshot Oct 11 2005 11:22 AM |
"Short stop" in 2 words is jarring but not as bad for me as "homerun" spelled as 1 word.

Calls for a committee on usage standarization continue to go unanswered.

I'm the reluctant winner!

Tom, you're freakin' killing me here. At the same time, I was outbid on the 1965 media guide and I'm letting it go.
|
Yancy Street Gang Oct 11 2005 01:33 PM |
Wow, you gotta go for the Steve Henderson.

Oh, I promise myself: "Library items only, Edgy! No memoribilia!"

Today's gee-gaw is a game-worn Steve Trachsel jersey.

Edgy DC Oct 18 2005 04:48 PM |
By the time I posted those, their auctions had probably ended. You still have a few minutes to grab four 1986 World Series Tickets.

Considering the guy's username is "binghamton_mets"... I'm going to guess that the team is releasing these on eBay, not some guy. Clements, Hietpas, Hill, Caligiuri, Edwards, Harper, and Malek all available now.

No big surprise but I was the highest bidder on that shirt...
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 24 2005 03:11 PM |
The last time I was at Shea I bought a very cute shirt that says, "Kiss Me, I'm a Mets Fan." I'm saving it for St. Patrick's Day :)

Or you could bid on this official Craig Anderson Howard Clothiers 1962 blue Mets blazer. I wonder if the fellow bidding on that media guide realizes the signifiance of his user name?

I just bought a 2-disc DVD of which the first disc is a basic highlight film of the '86 WS and the second disc is billed as "most of the original game footage from Game Six." I ended up buying it directly from the guy's website instead of on eBay because he didn't accept PayPal. I can PM (or post, I don't want to be an advertiser for the guy though I will if enough people are interested) the website to anyone else who wants to buy it.
|
Elster88 Nov 04 2005 10:57 AM |
Speaking of which, when does that film Game Six come out on DVD?
|
metirish Nov 04 2005 11:29 AM |
Just in time for the winter...a Mets snowsuit..the seller says... |

Second disc is MLB's DVD version of Game 6's entry in their "Greatest Games" VHS series from, I want to say early 1990's Its not badly chopped up as you'll get the innings where scoring happened, but innings aren't complete, example, you join the bottom of the tenth as Keith is flying out This year MLB, with new video partners A&E and Hart Video, have stepped up the plate and released two great sets. One is the 2004 Red Sox featuring not just all 4 WS games and WS Highlight film but all 7 ALCS games in their ENTIRETY! And the second is shinning the spotlight on the Yankee dynastay from 96-2001. All 4 WS winning highlight films (2001 was the first to be released on DVD format) and 5 complete WS games selected from those WS, Game 5 is the 2000 representitive (note, all of the games are in decent rotation on YES's Yankee Classics, but the audio/video on the DVD is FOX all the way, YES uses Sterling/Kay on their broadcasts) Sadly I had a real piece of junk VCR back in 1986, I'm pretty sure it was the first one we ever bought and it pretty much crapped out on me that October. I don't recall if I tried taping the 88 NLCS, but by 1999 my VCR was up to the task of recording all Met postseason games Course by next year I may have a DVD recorder that can record off TV, and of course now I can pre-record on TVio instead of being nervous that the tape will go out Ah the technology age... Several lots are coming up of shots of Shea Stadium under construction.
|
metirish Nov 10 2005 02:12 PM |
So are they pension checks,Backman's looks like it's from 92, but he was still a player then...
|
Edgy DC Nov 10 2005 02:14 PM |
They're from 1982. Look at the stamps on the back.
|
metirish Nov 10 2005 02:19 PM |
yes 82, so what type of payment are they?
|
Edgy DC Nov 10 2005 02:22 PM |
Both lots describe them as checks "to pay for expenses."
|
Elster88 Nov 21 2005 02:46 PM |
I'm guessing there are few people out there who would fit that thing. 6' 6" and skinny as a rail despite how jacked he was? Not that the people who buy it would probably wear it or anything.
|
Nymr83 Nov 21 2005 05:33 PM |
|
that would have to fit me at 6'5" 220 lb. too bad its so ugly.
|
Valadius Nov 21 2005 05:40 PM |
I see Marvelous Marv, Jim Hickman, and Jay Hook on the autographed photo.

Edgy DC Nov 23 2005 10:34 PM |
Retrosheet confirms that the score that day was 10-4.

Not necessarily Mets-related, but Sotheby's just listed several hundred items from baseball history on eBay that will blow your mind. Hope you all have some extra money lying around to add to your collection.

Today's trinket is the Mets banner that hung from Veteran's Stadium to indicate the standings, 1971-1973.
|
Nymr83 Dec 13 2005 07:01 AM |
thats pretty steep for a banner that spent 3 seasons at an opponents' stadium...
|
Edgy DC Dec 13 2005 07:59 AM |
Actually, it hung until 2003. I was posting too late to make sense.

I saw a 2004 one not too long ago as well on ebay Apparantly they've been making them anyway for media consumption only and only make the "real" ones available for the public (2000 was sold at Shea) Just a year end book keeping thing I guess where the staff just throws all the computations and data in so writers and broadcasters and such can do their year in review type stuff and refer back to things without waiting untill Feb-March when the next years book comes out
|
Edgy DC Jan 01 2006 01:15 PM |
I put a bid in on it, but I pulled out when it looked like it would be over $10.00 after shipping. I don't want to go into two figures to find out Tim Hamulack's wife's name.
