Those 17 days were - according to the summary of NYC weather in the 20th century that I cut out of the NYTimes a couple years ago - the record in this city for most consecutive days with precipitation.

Just in case any of you were starting to ... y'know wonder.

Yeah, this rain is crazy as hell. We're all starting to go a little kooky.

I've been wondering the past week how we skipped October and went straight into gray, damp & dreary November.

I'll tell you one thing though - we planted grass in the spring, watered it religiously for weeks and got nothin'.

We seeded again about 10 days ago - did absolutely nothing to it and my lawn looks like a friggin' lush green carpet today.

Sure my garage is flooded but you can't have everything...

The entire country (except maybe New Orleans) needed this after a particluarly dry summer.

Hopefully the west has gotten some and it won't be a particlarly bad wildfire season.

The west can have it.

At least we don't have to shovel it.

Kase, I was actually just thinking that driving back from lunch. Could you imagine if it was twenty degrees colder? Yowza.

I also saw where we got less than a half inch during all of September and I'm not sure August had even that much (4" per/month is just about normal) so we really can't complain too much (although I'm sure we will anyway).

L.I. has now had about 5" since Friday and that doesn't include whatever has been added since last night, nor what is expected tomorrow, and probably Saturday, and ...

There's some serious flooding in New Hampshire and Western Massachusetts so alot rain after a lot of no-rain is not necessarily a good thing.

Did you ever notice that after a long dry spell, you carry your umbrella and wear a raincoat and maybe a hat, and run back and forth from your car into buildings, etc.....and after a long rainy spell, you don't even bother putting your hood up any more?

I noticed that today

Me and Edgy have gotten a respite from the rain here in DC. My family in Jersey is quite jealous of me. But we got HEAVY rain for about 4 days in a row.

I knew it was bad here yesterday when the Philly news was talking about the heavy rainfall in Princeton and the trouble on the roads in Mercer County. We never make their radar (figuratively, not literally). But Princeton got close to 5" of rain overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

That doesn't mean my township got that much - there are times that it will storm in Princeton and we'll get nothing here. OTOH, we had some major road closures yesterday afternoon, and this is the first time in the ten years I've lived out here that I've seen those roads closed.

The Hartford news stations are showing pictures of flooded sections of LI.

I'm discovering leaks in my roof I never knew were there, which I guess is a good thing on some level.

Shield your eyes! There's a sunbeam!

But it's also raining, at the same time :)

My father told of it, many moons ago.

BTW, it's pouring again. So much for a rainbow

I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but you're half way to a new record for consecutive days with rain.

The Bridgeport Ferry suuuuuuuuuucked yesterday... pitching and rolling all over the place. Not looking forward to the ride back up tomorrow if this is still coming down... but they say it's supposed to break today. Allegedly.

As of last night we were only a fraction of an inch of rain from breaking the record for rainiest month in NYC history EVER!!
(or at least since they've been keeping records of this sort of stuff ... can't really say what happened in 1654 for instance).

C'mon man, we can do it!
(just not during my Sunday softball game please)

You knew things were bad when we broke the October record during the first half of the month.

Rain, rain, GO AWAY!!!!!
