Gotta' Question (not in your FAQ thread)

Sometimes when my player changes, I seem to recall I have been that player before.
Is it because:
1) The list (and associated number of post values) changes?
2) I'm having a senior moment?
3) I get so pissed off when I become a player I didn't really like that I lose all perspective?
4) Its a case of deja vu all over again?
5) Other?

A prompt response will do wonders in restoring my sanity.
Thanks,

The master list changes approx once a year - namely when we get around to updating with the new season's results - and since a player's rank is based on a cumulative score it's virtually impossible for an active player NOT to improve his spot.
So yes, all of you who were recently an active player stand a good chance of being that guy again in the coming months. Retired players (or those no longer Mets) can only tread water or trend downward so the only way you'd ever be one of those guys more than once is if a change or correction is made for some reason to their past scores causing him to jump up in rank. That's happened in the past on occasion but will probably become less common in the future.

I have been Luis Lopez three times

I doubt Luis Lopez will ever be ranked #1 or #2 so it's safe to say that you'll never be Luis Lopez again. SuperLuisLopezUltra on the other hand...

I think we all recall my less than thrilled reaction when I was Mike Stanton twice within a short span of time. It wasn't pretty.

Thank you.
I guess it was worth it to gnaw through my restraints today and post that.
I feel a lot better now.

cooby - "I have been Luis Lopez three times."

But your heart will always belong to Pat Mahomes. I seem to recall that you were quite stuck on him at one point and time.

I found myself wondering how the CPF collectively ranked Richard Hidalgo's remarkably productive (for hitting .228 anyway) season in ' 04. Problem is, I couldn't find the thread. (And there's not a http://www.kcmets.com/CPFRankingProj/year.html page either.)

Also ... is there a place where we have the corresponding point totals to go with the rankings? Broken down by year would be even sweeter. (Part of me NEEDS TO KNOW how many points Duke Snider has over Vance Wilson, y'know?)

I have to look on a different computer to refresh my memory.

Is there a thread that references "year.html" or do you mean there should
be one?

I just noticed some links like http://www.kcmets.com/CPFRankingProj/1963.html in the yearly ranking threads. They appear to be archived posts. (They stop after 2001, though.)

The chronology of it, if I remember it correctly, is I started an archiving pro-
ject of the rankings discussion and never finished. I cut and pasted all the
text from ezboard into those html files and started messing around with
building pages similar to that experimental page you see at 1963.html.
I only archived 1962-2001 because this probably happened in 2002. I threw
them on that server just to have a backup copy, they were never public links.
Of course, I never finished that phase of the project.

When the cyber-tsunami hit ezboard, it was just dumb luck that I had a good
portion of those forty years to reformat and set up as threads here. I think I
culled 2002 and 2003 from partial remains on ezboard and I think 2004 is
gone forever.

If anyone has 2004 text and wants to post it or send it to me, I'll be happy
to set it up like the other years.

Do I dare mention that we should wrap up 2005, or would I get a few rot-
ten tomatos thrown at me?

I think 05 is wrapped, just not programmed in.
