Ricciardi v. DePodesta

A scenario occurred to me in the bathroom just now, where all the clearest thoughts come: Bud Selig retires in 2012, and Sandy Alderson returns to the commissioner's office as MLB's top man.

Whether or not that sequence comes to pass, it's not hard to envision Sandy as a short-timer, grooming his two experienced lieutenants as potential successors. So, knowing as little as we do about what they're going to bring to the team, which do you think the job would fall to?

Neither. Or they could do that weird thing the Red Sox did when Theo Epstein took a few months off to go play rock music and make them co-GMs.

I would think that Selig's successor will be another yes man, anyway didn't Selig's #2 Bob DuPuy step down/get fired recently apparently because he assumed wrongly that he was next in line for the job. Bud it seems ain't going anywhere soon.

My pick is George Bush as the next Commissioner

Bud declared his through-ness when he signed his last contract. He could go back on that (he has before), but he's a dinosaur, everybody knows it, and the owners who backed his ascendency are dying or weakening.

I predict John Mutherfuckin Ricco will backstab his way back to the top.

That would be fucking awesome.

"I don't care how much of your precious process and stinking normalcy you bring to this fucking madhouse. The dysfunction of the old guard will reign as long as there is BREATH IN MY BODY!"

For some reason, I can't help picturing the shower fight in Eastern Promises.

Except without Ricco's balls flailing all over the place, right?

They say by the time you boot up your windows computer it's possible to get half a dozen viruses.

I think that Sandy will stick around for the four years of his contract.

George W. Bush as Commissioner doesn't seem entirely unlikely. (I just wish he had taken that job ten years ago instead of the job that he did get.)

Whatshisname from the Nationals is to be the next Commish, I think. I understood he was leaving the Nats with an unnamed job in mind: If not the Mets, then...

After reflecting upon 3 consecutive World Championships won by the Metropolitans Sandy will pass the reins to Theo Epstein.
