Samuels has packed for his last road trip -- his own. Statement from the Mets: THE TERMINATION OF CHARLIE SAMUELS’ EMPLOYMENT FLUSHING, N.Y., November 12, 2010 – The New York Mets announced today that they have terminated Charlie Samuels’ employment with the Mets for conduct in violation of club policies. This decision is the result of a thorough internal investigation over the course of several months. The Mets will have no further comment on this matter.

The Mets will have no further comment on this matter. That statement is as impressive as it is terrifying. OE: Seriously, if you want to keep a story from growing into a monster getting churned over and over through the 24-hour news cycle, release it after work hours on Friday evening --- after drivetime hours even. Didn't Sarah Palin resign on a Friday evening.
